Undergraduate Scholarships at the University of Cyprus

1. Undergraduate Studies Scholarships for Non-Eu Citizens

  • Scholarship Amount: 50% tuition fee waiver

Undergraduate students who currently do not hold an EU citizenship may be eligible for this University of Cyprus scholarship of a 50% tuition fee waiver. The scholarship is valid for the entirety of undergraduate studies which includes eight semesters within four years. To receive this award, you must also demonstrate a good understanding of the Greek language.

There are ten of these scholarships and the successful candidates must complete a one-year Greek Language course at the School of Modern Greek before starting their undergraduate studies. Completing this course will give you a B2-level certificate.

Postgraduate Scholarships at the University of Cyprus

1. MSc Program in Intelligent Critical Infrastructure Systems and employment opportunities offered by the KIOS Centre of Excellence

  • Scholarship Amount: 50%-100% tuition fee waiver and the possibility of an employment scholarship which includes €750 – €1,100 monthly stipend
  • Eligibility Criteria: studying for an MSc Program in Intelligent Critical Infrastructure Systems

There are ten of these University of Cyprus scholarships available for international students hoping to study for a master’s degree at the university. If you are applying to study for an MSc in Program in Intelligent Critical Infrastructure Systems, then you could receive a large tuition fee waiver and possibly a monthly stipend of €750 to €1,100. The stipend is awarded to students who apply to also work at the university, the amount you receive depends on how many hours you agree to work.

These scholarships are awarded based on merit, meaning the selection panel will be looking for those with the most impressive academic success. To apply for this scholarship, submit a cover letter, a CV, a description of your research proposal, two references, and copies of your academic transcripts on the application page.

2. Praxandros Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: 50% of tuition fees covered
  • Eligibility Criteria: Full-time enrollment in a master’s program

Ensure you have applied and been accepted on a course to study for a master’s degree at the University of Cyprus before you apply for this scholarship. If you are awarded the Praxandros Scholarship, you will receive a 50% tuition fee waiver. You are also permitted to apply for other scholarships as well as renew this one each semester.

The university is looking to award this partial tuition fee scholarship to students with previous academic success (including extra qualifications), the quality of recommendation letters, and any other criteria that they deem to be notable.

3. Evagoras Scholarship (for prospective students)

  • Scholarship Amount: full and partial scholarships of full tuition fees and up to an €8,000 stipend
  • Eligibility Criteria: meet the criteria for full-time enrollment in a Ph.D. program

There are different types of University of Cyprus scholarships available through the Evagoras scholarship for prospective students. Depending on your circumstance, the scholarships range from partial tuition fee waivers to full tuition fee waivers and some even include an €8,000 annual stipend. The €8,000 stipend will be paid in two installments of €4,000. The scholarship is renewable each year for a maximum of three years if you can demonstrate academic progress each year.

As part of this scholarship, you will be required to perform Teaching Assistant duties or administrative tasks within your department for four hours per week. These tasks will only be required during the Fall and Spring semesters and only if you are awarded the Full Scholarship. As mentioned in the title, you can apply for this scholarship if you are a prospective student and not if you are currently studying.

4. Evagoras Scholarship (for enrolled students)

  • Scholarship Amount: Full and partial scholarships of full tuition fees and up to an €8,000 stipend
  • Eligibility Criteria: full-time enrollment in a Ph.D. program
  • Degree Offered: Ph.D.
  • Scholarship Link

This scholarship is similar to the above scholarship in that it offers full and partial tuition fees and a maximum monthly stipend of €8,000. However, it is aimed at students who are currently enrolled and completing their Ph.D. It is applicable for a maximum of four years, given you can prove academic progress. It is worth noting that you cannot apply for this scholarship if you are a part-time student.

Students who are chosen will be able to demonstrate impressive academic performance, an original, interesting research topic, participation in Ph.D. conferences, excellent references, and co-writing of Ph.D. scholar announcements. Applications are accepted through the application website, which opens during the application window.
