As it is a small country, the university scene in Cyprus is not huge. However, there are a few very good options for medical school in Cyprus.

How much does medical school cost in Cyprus?

Whilst the cost of medical school is cheaper in Cyprus than in many other English-speaking countries, it can still be relatively expensive. For example, at the University of Nicosia, tuition is €18,000 for the first three years and €22,000 for the next three, with a supplemental payment of €6,000 a year during the last two years if you are doing your clinical training in the UK.

In terms of living costs, you should expect to spend around €10,000 per year.

Medical school takes six years and you will be granted an MD degree upon successful completion.

1. University of Nicosia Medical School

The University of Nicosia is proud of its international student body, including students from 60 nationalities. They started medical education in Cyprus in 2011, by offering the St George University of London graduate-entry MBBS first. This then evolved into the six-year MD program currently offered. Another great medical school in Cyprus is the European University Cyprus, which offers a six-year MD program under the motto of “rigorous scientific theory with patient-centered clinical practice.” The School of Medicine also hosts a Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health course taught online – “Principles and Practice of Clinical Research.” They are closely linked with the American education system and graduates from the EUC can apply to take the US Medical Licensing Examination for medical licensure in the United States.

Practical training at the EUC allows you to work in public and private hospitals across Cyprus. There is also an international network for summer externships for practical training. This includes institutions such as Shriners Hospitals for Children in the US, Imperial College London in the UK or the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel.

3. University of Nicosia – St George’s University of London

This joint degree works under the UK medical guidance and allows medical practice pathways worldwide for its graduates. St George’s University of London is a specialist medical and healthcare higher education institution in London, collaborating with this medical school in Cyprus to offer a four-year MBBS degree that has been running since 2011 in Cyprus.
