Undergraduate Scholarships at Sabancı University

1. Undergraduate Scholarships for Prospective Students

  • Scholarship Amount: 25%-100% tuition waiver.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Enrolling in any of SU’s undergraduate courses.

All incoming undergraduate students are automatically eligible for Sabancı University’s undergraduate scholarships upon admission – international students included. Students may also indicate the specific scholarship they would like to be considered for. However, scholarship slots remain limited and face tight competition. Students’ academic performance, letters of reference, transcript of records, and standard test scores are used as bases for consideration and must be uploaded online. Students may also include competitions joined and certificates won to stand out, and note that the scholarship committee may ask for additional documentation to complete the application.

Scholarship packages range from 25%, 50%, 75%, and up to 100% tuition waiver. Once the scholarship is accepted, it will be valid during the standard period of study.

2. Sakıp Sabancı Encouragement Scholarship

  • Eligibility Criteria: Academically excellent students or students with financial needs; Studied at least two semesters in SU.

The Sakıp Sabancı Encouragement Scholarship awards 87 deserving students who have taken at least two semesters of study at SU. The Board of Trustees will evaluate eligible students with exemplary academic performance for the scholarship. A limited number of need-based students will also be considered for funding. Accepted students will receive a tuition waiver ranging from 25% to 100% for the rest of their undergraduate studies, provided that they continue to meet designated criteria.

As a privately funded scholarship at Sabancı University, the Sakıp Sabancı Scholarships reserves the right to revise its scope, quota, and requirements – so it would help to check regularly for changes.

3. Dilek Sabancı Scholarship

  • Eligibility Criteria: Academic excellence; Studied at least two semesters in SU.

The Dilek Sabancı Scholarship is awarded to only five academically excellent students who have completed at least two semesters in SU. This scholarship is automatically awarded – no applications are needed. The grant is a full tuition waiver for up to two years of study, provided that students continue to meet conditions to maintain the scholarship and graduate within the recommended period of study with no disciplinary action.

Postgraduate Scholarships at Sabancı University

For all graduate scholarships offered by Sabanci University, are awarded on a nomination basis. Students are shortlisted by the Admission Jury based on their academic performance and are then evaluated by the Graduate School Administrative Board to create the final list. The assigned Faculty will determine if students may continue with their scholarships, largely according to GPA.

1. Full Scholarship

One of the most comprehensive scholarships offered by Sabancı University, the Sabancı University Graduate Full Scholarship awards students a tuition waiver, a monthly stipend, and dormitory support. Tuition waivers may range from 25% to 100% free tuition. Additionally, stipends for living expenses and lodging are offered to eligible graduate scholars. A cash subsidy of 2,500 TRY per month and free dormitory lodging for 10 months is awarded to Master’s students, while a cash subsidy of 3,000 TRY per month and free dormitory lodging for 12 months are awarded to Ph.D. students.

Some deviations to the standard package apply. For one, the budget for living expenses of doctoral candidates may increase to 3,200 TRY per month once students pass the Doctoral Qualifying Exam. Another is should students opt not to use the dormitory support, this can be converted to a 750 TRY monthly stipend. Lastly, upgrades in dormitory support beyond the standard package must be paid for by the student at the beginning of the semester.

2. Full Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship and Dormitory Scholarship

The Full Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship and Dormitory Scholarship package is self-explanatory – this Sabancı University scholarship provides accepted graduate students with a full tuition waiver and dormitory support. For Master’s students, this equates to a double room for 10 months, and Ph.D. students a single or double room of their choice for 12 months. Students, who opt not to use this support may receive this incentive as a 750 TRY monthly subsidy.

3. Project Scholarship

Students with research-based projects may receive a monthly stipend and dormitory support from the university. Those with scholarships from TUBİTAK, SANTEZ, and other third-party organizations with tuition waivers are granted free dormitory lodging for 10 months. For those who opt not to use this incentive, this can be converted to a 750 TRY monthly subsidy.
