Undergraduate Scholarships at Monash University

1. Alfred Research Alliance Honours Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: $6,000
  • Eligibility Criteria
    • Completing a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor Biomedical Science program
    • Starting or continuing in a full-time Alfred Research Alliance honors program
    • Weighted Average Mark of 80 or above

This Monash University scholarship is intended for students taking up the honors program at the Alfred precinct in Melbourne. The benefits are applicable for a maximum of one year, with the scholar taking up 48 credit points of study. There are a total of two scholarships available.

2. International Study Grant

All international applicants for an undergraduate course at Monash University will be automatically assessed for this offer, however, do note that these offers may be limited. The benefits, which will be deducted from the scholar’s tuition fees, will depend on the assessment outcome. To maintain the grant, a minimum of 12 credit point load must be taken per semester.

3. K.C. Kuok Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: $360,000 AUD
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Citizen of mainland China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, or a Southeast Asian country
    • Single-degree applicants with full-time Monash course offer
    • Not previously studied at Monash University
    • From low-income household

This scholarship offer is also known as the Sir John Monash Scholarship for Excellence. It is one of Monash University’s most prestigious scholarships and is funded by its namesake, Khoon Chen Kuok, or Beau Kuok, one of its prominent alumni.

If accepted for this Monash University scholarship, benefits may cover tuition fees and living costs (accommodation, airfare, etc.). Scholars receive a $14,000 AUD allowance per year and an additional $3,000 AUD for their first year. It also covers on-campus accommodation, tuition fees, student visa costs, and one return flight for the first year. The scholarship amount reflected above is the maximum a scholar may receive in over four years.

Only one student is selected for this scholarship every year. However, if there is more than one outstanding applicant, additional scholarships may be awarded. Selection will be based on academic achievement, financial disadvantage, and assessment of their personal aspiration statement, financial support statement, and interview performance. Postgraduate Scholarships at Monash University

1. International Study Grant

  • Scholarship Amount: either $5,000 AUD or $10,000 AUD
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • New students starting their undergraduate degree

Aside from those in undergraduate programs, international students taking up Master’s at Monash University are also qualified for the international study grant, with the same benefits as undergraduate students. They will also be automatically assessed, and the benefits will be deducted from their tuition fees. Do note, however, that study grant offers may be limited.

2. Co-funded Monash Graduate Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: $29,500
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Fulfill minimum academic entry requirements
    • Fulfill language proficiency requirements
    • Submit an expression of interest
  • Degree Offered: Master’s and PhD

This Monash University scholarship is intended for international students in Research Doctorate or Research Master’s degrees. To be considered for this offer, students must meet the academic entry requirements, which are different for Master’s and PhD programs. They must also meet the language proficiency requirements and submit an expression of interest to any relevant units. This scholarship is intended to help PhD students with their living costs while studying at Monash. It is named after Professor Maxwell King, a prominent contributor to the university’s graduate research. He also served as its Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Research Training) for eight years.
