Undergraduate Scholarships for International Students at The University of York

1. Be Exceptional Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: £2,500 to £7,500 (partial funding)
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Must have a full-time offer for undergraduate studies except for the Hull York Medical School, Distance Learning degrees, and Erasmus programs
    • Must not hold a fully-funded scholarship

Be Exceptional is a partial scholarship given to select international students (including EU) and provides a tuition fee discount. There are two rounds of applications – typically closing in March and June respectively.

The amount of this University of York scholarship varies: £2,500, £5,000, or £7,500 as awarded by the university will be applied in the first year of eligible students.

2. Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: £10,000 to £20,000 (partial funding)
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Must have an expected grade of AAA at A-level
    • Must have at least 36 points in the IB or international equivalents
    • Must pass the entire eligibility criteria for Be Exceptional Scholarship

The Vice-Chancellor’s scholarships are awarded to the top talented international students (including EU) to support their tuition. Only one application is necessary to apply for both Be Exceptional and Vice-Chancellor’s scholarships. There are two rounds of applications – typically closing in March and June respectively.

The eligible student will be offered up to £20,000 if they receive this University of York scholarship. Successful undergraduate students will receive £10,000 in their first year and £5,000 each in their second and third years.

3. Electronic Engineering International Academic Excellence Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: £1,000 (partial funding)
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Must have a full-time offer for an undergraduate degree in Electronic Engineering without a Foundation year

This International Academic Excellence Scholarship is awarded to three international students (including EU) of the Electronic Engineering Department pursuing their undergraduate studies.

The eligible students will get a £1000 fee discount in their first year and receive £500 each in the two terms to cover their tuition. This scholarship at the University of York can be taken away if the student doesn’t pass the first year.

3. Electronic Engineering Departmental Taught Masters Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: £2,500 (partial funding)
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Must have a full-time offer for Masters of Science in any of these courses – Audio and Music Technology, Communications Engineering, Digital Systems Engineering, Embedded Wireless Systems, Engineering Management, and Intelligent Robotics
    • Must not have any other scholarship from the Electronic Engineering Department
  • Degree Offered: Master’s
  • Scholarship Link

This is a departmental scholarship available to students enrolled in the taught master’s courses for Electronic Engineering. The application must include a cover letter elaborating on their skills, financial needs, and personal qualities.

The eligible students will receive a one-time tuition discount of £2,500.
