Undergraduate Scholarships at University of Tasmania

1. Dean of Medicine’s Merit Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: 25% registered tuition fees reduction
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery student
    • Overall ISAT score of 180 or higher
    • ATAR (or equivalent) of 95 or higher

Students pursuing medicine at the University of Tasmania may take advantage of the Dean of Medicine’s Merit Scholarship. This grant covers 25% of scholars from the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. There is no separate application process. Thus, all students of the said undergraduate programs will be automatically assessed. Transnational education and articulation agreement students are not qualified. As a scholar, you will become one of the university’s student ambassadors. You will also need to maintain a minimum of passing or ungraded passing results every academic year.

2. Dean of Law’s Merit Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: 50% registered tuition fees reduction
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Bachelor of Laws and associated double degrees student
    • Have 95+ ATAR equivalent or has High Distinction (85+/100) equivalent

All international student applicants are automatically assessed for this University of Tasmania scholarship. Should you be given the grant, you will be notified. To maintain the offer, you must keep a cumulative grade point average of Credit (5.0/7.0) every study period. As a scholar, you will also act as an ambassador for the university. Partners of partner institutions through articulation agreements or transnational education are not eligible.

3. Dean of Business and Economics Merit Scholarship

  • Eligibility Criteria: College of Business and Economics student

International students from the College of Business and Economics pursuing undergraduate or honors programs will be evaluated for the Dean of Business and Economics Merit Scholarship at the University of Tasmania. However, those taking double degrees with other colleges are not eligible. Also, those with articulation agreements or are students of partner institutions are not qualified for the grant.

Scholars will become ambassadors of the university. Aside from that, they will also have to maintain a cumulative grade point average every study period.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Tasmania

1. Dean of Sciences and Engineering Merit Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: 50% registered tuition fees reduction
  • Eligibility Criteria: College of Sciences and Engineering student
  • Degree Offered: Undergraduate, Master’s, PhD

The University of Tasmania offers various Dean’s Merit scholarships, one of which is the Dean of Sciences and Engineering Merit Scholarship. This particular merit scholarship at the University of Tasmania is intended for all students of the College of Sciences and Engineering undergraduate, honors, or postgraduate coursework programs. However, seafaring programs are not eligible. Students who also entered the university through an articulation agreement with another institution or are a student of a Transnational Education partner are not qualified.

All international student applicants are automatically evaluated. Should you be accepted for the scholarship, you must maintain a specific cumulative grade point average (CGPA) every study period. You will also become a student ambassador for the university.

2. Tasmanian International Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: 25% tuition fees reduction
  • Eligibility Criteria: Students of eligible programs
  • Degree Offered: Undergraduate, Master’s, PhD

All international student applicants are evaluated for the Tasmanian International Scholarship. These grants are intended for undergraduate students, except those pursuing Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Dementia Care, and seafaring courses. However, postgraduate students are also considered.

Applicants will be evaluated based on academic background and achievements. Grading scales and requirements may vary per country. Accepted scholars will receive a letter of notification.

3. ASEAN Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: 15% tuition fees reduction
  • Eligibility Criteria: First-time University of Tasmania student and citizen of an ASEAN country
  • Degree Offered: Undergraduate, Master’s, PhD

The University of Tasmania awards this scholarship to students from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, University, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. These students are automatically considered for the ASEAN scholarship, worth 15% of tuition fees. However, students pursuing online programs, Bachelor of Nursing Hobart and Launceston, and Master of Laboratory Medicine are not qualified for the offer.

Accepted scholars must also maintain their student visa requirements to continue enjoying the scholarship. They must also keep a satisfactory attendance and progress every study period. As a scholar, they will also become student ambassadors.

3. Tasmanian Access Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: 15% tuition fee reduction
  • Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be international students from eligible Asian countries
  • Degree Offered: Undergraduate, Master’s, PhD

International students from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam are automatically evaluated for the Tasmanian Access Scholarship at the University of Tasmania. Accepted scholars will receive a 15% tuition fee reduction waiver to help ease financial costs. However, those enrolled in medicine, nursing, applied science, business administration, physiotherapy, and online courses are not eligible for this scholarship.

Scholars must maintain satisfactory attendance and progress in their course. They must also meet their student visa requirements. All scholars become student ambassadors for the university.
