The University of Strathclyde is a public research university in Glasgow, Scotland. Undergraduate Scholarships at the University of Strathclyde

  1. Faculty of Engineering RUK Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship
  • Scholarship Amount: £1000 for tuition fees

    • must be an incoming undergraduate student paying international student fees
    • must be enrolling in any full-time course at the University of Strathclyde’s Faculty of Engineering
    • must have an excellent academic record

The Faculty of Engineering RUK Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship for International Students is awarded by the University of Strathclyde. It is catered for international freshmen enrolling in any available course from the Faculty of Engineering. The awardee will be receiving an amount of £1000 on its first year in the university.

A full list of courses is available on the scholarship link. The number and value of scholarships given out are determined by the Faculty of Engineering every year, depending on their priorities. Applicants will be considered for this University of Strathclyde scholarship based mostly on their current and past academic performances. The Faculty of Engineering will also be looking at your relevant work experience and extracurricular activities.

Applications are conducted online. There is no need to apply since eligible students will be automatically identified through the university application.

The deadline is usually on the 16th of September every year. The University of Strathclyde highly recommends submitting your application early. You should expect to hear back within four weeks of submission.

If successful, you must be willing to participate as a student ambassador in school events. This may include attending recruitment activities and sharing their scholarship experiences. Additionally, you must also maintain good grades throughout—your scholarship may be revoked otherwise.

2. Humanities and Social Sciences International Undergraduate Performance Sport Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: up to £6750 per year for tuition fees, equipment, training fees, etc.
  • Eligibility Criteria
    • must be a student-athlete competing in a Sport Scotland-recognized sport; should be competing on a junior level at the very least
    • must be enrolled in any course at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
    • must be an undergraduate student

Supported by the University of Strathclyde’s Performance Sport Panel, this scholarship is geared towards versatile student-athletes. Not only must the student be an athlete competing in at least junior level, but they must also be an academic enrolled in any of the eligible courses at the Humanities and Social Sciences department.

To qualify for this University of Strathclyde scholarship, you must compete in a sport recognized by Sport Scotland. There is a handy list of eligible sports here. While all those competing in at least junior level will be considered for the scholarship, priority will be given to those who can promote the University of Strathclyde’s national ranking in sports. Students who compete in disability sports will also be considered.

Successful candidates will be receiving £3000 to help with tuition fees. They will also be given a value of £3750 to help with memberships, equipment, training costs, medical fees, and other miscellaneous fees required by a student-athlete. All in all, the recipient will be receiving £6750 as financial aid and may also receive academic flexibility if need be.

Applications for the scholarship are done online. The link will be uploaded on the scholarship link. You should expect to write a short essay on why you’re applying for the scholarship and upload documents proving your status as a student-athlete. This can include proof of your competitions, camps and workshops you’ve attended, clubs you’re a member of, and more. Because this scholarship is also an academic one, they may also take a look at your academic transcripts.

You will be contacted by the Performance Sport Panel via email if your application is successful. This scholarship lasts for one year and can be renewed for your entire study period if you continue to perform admirably in your respective sport and maintain good grades. This scholarship is one to consider if you’re a student-athlete as it respects your dual lifestyle as both a student and an athlete.

Postgraduate Scholarships at the University of Strathclyde

1. ScottishPower International Masters Scholarship Program

  • Scholarship Amount: fully-waived tuition fee, £1200 monthly living expenses
  • Eligibility Criteria
    • must be an incoming, self-funded master’s student at the University of Strathclyde
    • must have a bachelor’s degree from a distinguished university; final grade must have a grade of 2:1 (or equivalent)
    • must be enrolling in any eligible course related to power and energy

The admissions application and scholarship application are completely separate, so you must first apply for admission before applying for ScottishPower’s scholarship.

Scholarship applications are done online through ScottishPower’s official website. They are open from the beginning of February to the end of March. Because of the small timeframe, you should prepare your documents well in advance to ensure your application goes smoothly. Expect to upload academic transcripts, a comprehensive resume, and a letter of motivation, among others. If your application is successful, you will be receiving tuition and enrollment fees, a monthly allowance of £1200, a mentor provided by ScottishPower, and exciting career-related prospects.

A successful candidate should be highly motivated, and this motivation should be reflected in their academic standings. Grades should not be lower than a 2:1 or equivalent, and this must be maintained throughout the whole study period. In exchange for the scholarship, recipients must also be willing to act as an ambassador for the company and attend recruitment activities for both the university and ScottishPower. Additionally, all recipients must not receive any other scholarship or be working in any capacity while under ScottishPower’s scholarship.
