Undergraduate Scholarships at University of Saskatchewan

1. University of Saskatchewan International Excellence Awards

  • Scholarship Amount: 10,000 CDN.
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students enrolling in any of the University of Saskatchewan undergraduate courses.

The University of Saskatchewan International Excellence Awards is awarded to four deserving international students enrolling in any of the University of Saskatchewan’s undergraduate courses. Students must apply for this scholarship separately. Application forms are submitted online, alongside necessary documents and a 90 CDN application fee.

Students will be assessed based on academic excellence for this University of Saskatchewan scholarship. Accepted students will receive a one-time subsidy of 10,000 CDN. Should students also receive the Guaranteed Admission Scholarship, the two scholarships can be used together.

2. International Baccalaureate (IB) Excellence Awards

  • Scholarship Amount: 20,000 CDN
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students with completed IB diploma; Enrolling in any of the University of Saskatchewan undergraduate courses.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Excellence Awards awards four excellent students who have completed an IB diploma course enrolling in the University of Saskatchewan for undergraduate studies. Students must apply for this scholarship separately. Application forms are submitted online, alongside necessary documents and an application fee.

Students will be assessed based on academic performance, and stand to receive a one-time subsidy of 20,000 CDN. This scholarship can be used together with the Guaranteed Admission Scholarship.

3. Council of International School Awards (CIS)

  • Scholarship Amount: 15,000 CDN
  • Eligibility Criteria: International full-time students graduated from a CIS member school; Enrolling in any of the University of Saskatchewan undergraduate courses.

The Council of International School Awards (CIS) is awarded to three international full-time students who have graduated from CIS member schools and are enrolling in the University of Saskatchewan for undergraduate studies. Aside from meeting the university’s criteria for admission, students must apply for this scholarship separately online.

Students will be assessed based on academic performance and will receive a one-time subsidy of 15,000 CDN if given this University of Saskatchewan scholarship. This scholarship can be used together with the Guaranteed Admission Scholarship.

Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Saskatchewan

1. Dean’s Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: 18,000 – 22,000 CDN per year, plus a full tuition-waiver for Ph.D students
  • Eligibility Criteria: First-time registrants for thesis at the university; GPA of 85% or higher, Previous research experience

The Dean’s Scholarship is a merit-based program of the University of Saskatchewan to attract academically excellent students with high research potential. Students who have signed up for a research or dissertation-based graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan for the first time are eligible to apply for this University of Saskatchewan scholarship. Students also need a minimum GPA of 85% and show proof of previous research experience in journal or conference publications.

Interested students must apply for a College or School Nomination. To do such, they must first fill out the forms online with the necessary attachments. These are handed to the nominating college or school who will vouch for the candidate, and forward the application to the University of Saskatchewan before the assigned dates.

Accepted Master’s students will receive 18,000 CDN per year for 2 years of Master’s studies, while accepted Ph.D. candidates will receive a full tuition waiver and 22,000 CDN per year for three years of study. This value may increase as the department or supervisor is required to fund the last year of study at the same level of support.

2. University of Saskatchewan Graduate Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: 16,000-20,000 CDN
  • Eligibility Criteria: full-time graduate students within the first 36 months (Master’s) or first 48 months (Ph.D.) of their degree program of the university; GPA of at least 80%.

The University of Saskatchewan Graduate Scholarships awards deserving full-time Master’s and Doctoral students enrolling in select courses. Students may apply upon application to their graduate degree courses or even in the middle of their studies. They must also hold a minimum GPA of 80% upon application.

Interested students must apply online and submit relevant transcripts of records. They must also ask for two letters of reference which will be sent directly to the school, vouching for the student’s character and research potential. Master’s students stand to receive 16,000 CDN for up to 24 months, while Doctoral students stand to receive 20,000 CDN for up to 36 months. The number of scholarships granted varies each year, so there’s always a good chance of getting accepted.

3. University of Saskatchewan Graduate Teaching Fellowships (GTF)

  • Scholarship Amount: up to 16,000 CDN per year
  • Eligibility Criteria: Full-time graduate students enrolling in the university within a standard period of study; GPA of at least 80%.

The University of Saskatchewan Graduate Teaching Fellowships (GTF) are awarded to deserving graduate students willing to take some work during their studies. Full-time new and existing graduate students are eligible to apply for this University of Saskatchewan scholarship. They must also have a GPA of at least 80%.

Almost all graduate programs offer a GTF scholarship. Interested students must formally inform the Graduate Chair of their interest in the scholarship and provide needed information.

Accepted students can receive up to 16,000 CDN per year – 12,000 CDN for the September to April period, and an additional 4,000 CDN for the May to August season if deemed necessary. To maintain the scholarship, accepted students must render 12 hours of work per week during the September to April school period. The work rendered must be significant to the student’s academic and/or professional growth. They must also maintain a GPA of 75% with no delays in their studies. The number of scholarships granted varies each year, so there’s always a good chance of getting accepted.
