There are a lot of available undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the University of Pisa. While most of the courses are taught in Italian, there are some taught in English. This is one of the reasons the University of Pisa is popular amongst international students. Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Pisa

1. UNIPI Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount:
    • First Year: €6000 and fully-waived university fees
    • Second Year (Master’s): €8000 and partially-waived university fees if the student has obtained 36 credits with an average grade of 25/30
    • Second/Third Year (Bachelor’s): €8000 and partially-waived university fees if the student has obtained 36 credits (first year) or 96 credits (second year) with an average grade of 25/30

    • must be enrolled at the University of Pisa in a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Business and Economics, or to any of the master’s degrees taught in English

Every year, the University of Pisa grants eighteen UNIPI Scholarships to their international students. It helps promote the university’s undergraduate and postgraduate degrees taught in English and entice foreigners to come study at the university.

There is no separate application needed for the UNIPI Scholarship. Your application for admission to the University of Pisa is also an application for the scholarship. You just need to make sure that your course is eligible, as only the courses being taught in English will be covered by the UNIPI Scholarship. Additionally, your application for the scholarship will only be counted if it was submitted before the set deadline. This deadline will be posted on the scholarship’s webpage every year.

Your application will be evaluated based on the following: curriculum vitae, interview, transcript of records, and your country of origin. Those coming from developing countries will be prioritized by the scholarships team.

All winners of the scholarship will have their names published on the university’s official website. This can be used as proof of financial capability when applying for your Italian student visa.

UNIPI Scholarships may not be received with any other scholarship funded by the Italian government.

Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Pisa

1. MAECI Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: fully-waived tuition fee, €900 monthly allowance
  • Eligibility Criteria
    • must be an international student or an Italian living abroad
    • plans to take up a graduate course at the University of Pisa
    • must have a B2 language level in either Italian or English, depending on what language your desired course is taught in

This scholarship available at the University of Pisa is funded by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. According to the scholarship’s official website, this grant aims to do three things: promote international collaboration in cultural, scientific, and technological fields, encourage people to visit Italy and speak Italian, and encourage Italy’s economic growth. It does this by providing full scholarships to foreigners who wish to study in Italy.

Each year, the Ministry releases a call for procedure. Here, you will find the different kinds of grants they have available, specific eligibility criteria, terms and conditions, and more details about the scholarship. Please read this entire page carefully to determine if you’re eligible for the scholarship—requirements vary depending on the course you’re taking, and not all countries can be covered by the scholarship.

The MAECI Scholarship requires a separate application, so you will still need to apply for admission. The scholarship website has a handy search tool—it looks for University of Pisa courses that the scholarship can cover. It can be found here. Once you’ve applied for admission to your desired course, you can apply for the scholarship.

Start by registering a new account on the scholarship website. You will need this to access and fill out the online application form. You will also need to attach some documents to support your application—these include academic transcripts, motivation letters, resume, Italian or English language certificates, acceptance letters, and other documents. Make sure to complete your application by the closing date, as late applications will not be accepted.

Awardees will be notified by the Italian consulate in their countries. This University of Pisa scholarship cannot be stacked with any other scholarship.

2. Invest Your Talent in Italy Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: fully waived tuition fee, €900 monthly allowance, Italian language courses
  • Eligibility Criteria
    • must be a citizen of any of the following countries: Azerbaijan, Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Tunisia, Turkey, or Vietnam
    • must be born on or after 1 January 1995
    • must hold a Bachelor’s degree relevant to the applied master’s program, and must have a B2 English language level

The Invest Your Talent in Italy Scholarship is a collaboration between select universities and major corporations in Italy. It allows international students to come to Italy to train and develop technical and professional skills that are in demand. Not only will the lucky scholar be enjoying a fully-waived tuition fee and monthly allowance, but they will also be attending language courses to develop their Italian fluency level. Additionally, there will be on-the-job training for the awardees.

The University of Pisa offers a handful of postgraduate courses that can be covered by the Invest Your Talent in Italy Scholarship. These are all courses related to Engineering and Advanced Technology, Management Economics, and Design and Architecture. You can find a full list of eligible courses here.

You will need to apply for your desired program before you can apply for this University of Pisa scholarship.

Applications are conducted online on Invest You Talent in Italy’s official website. Here, you will find more information about the scholarship as well as some helpful documents on frequently asked questions, and terms and conditions. This is where you will also find the online application form.

Along with the form, you will also be asked to upload several documents. These include academic transcripts, diploma or certificate of graduation, comprehensive resume, English language certificate, valid passport, and a one-minute video about yourself and your motivations. You may also submit an Italian language certificate if you have one.

They will announce the call for proposals around March every year, so start preparing your documents as early as you can. They are very strict with deadlines and will not accept incomplete applications. You can also only apply to one course for the scholarship, so make sure your application to the University of Pisa is the best you can come up with. The scholarship will be forfeited if you are denied admission to the university or submit more than one application.

All successful candidates will be notified by the Italian embassies in their countries. They will be required to attend compulsory Italian language classes, maintain good grades throughout their studies, and intern at selected Italian companies. This scholarship cannot be stacked with other scholarships.
