University of Padua Scholarships for International Students

The University of Padua, or locally known as Universita di Padova, is one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious universities. It was established in 1222 making it the second oldest university in Italy. Overall, it is also the fifth oldest university in the world. Its title as one of Europe’s most prestigious universities and ranked second as the best university for Italian higher education institutions make it quite the goal for many ambitious students. Not only this but the university is regularly ranked among the world’s top 200 universities.

The university is located in Padua, Veneto. A city that can be found in the beautiful landscape of Northern Italy. The university campus is quite a sight to see because of its old architecture that embodies all the history behind the university. When it comes to studies, the university has more than 8 different divisions and a long list of degrees offered, making it a great option for students that want variety.

Many of the University of Padua scholarships are also open to international students, also making it a viable option for those that want to study abroad.

University of Padua Scholarships

Undergraduate Scholarships at University of Padua

1. Padua International Excellence Scholarship Program

  • Scholarship Amount: €8,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. Applicants must hold a foreign diploma from their previous school, do not reside in Italy, and are able to provide proof of high academic achievements and records. They must apply and receive admission into one of the degree programs that are taught in English at the university.

Awarded applicants will be expected to partake in a student ambassadorial role to represent the university at external events.

This is a highly competitive University of Padua scholarship and only 44 scholarships will be awarded every year. Because of this, the selection committee will shortlist eligible applicants and only award the scholarship to the most decorated applicants. The scholarship will be granted for a maximum duration of three years.

There will be no separate application procedure. Eligible applicants will automatically be considered upon enrollment. However, if offered a scholarship, there will be an offer acceptance deadline.

2. Regione Veneto Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: Up to Full tuition fees and an allowance
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. To be considered an eligible applicant, the student must have already received admission into the University of Padua, meet the academic requirements of their degree, and is able to provide proof that they are of a family with low income. Applicants must also not be benefitting from any other scholarship or grant.

This is a need and merit-based scholarship at the University of Padua. Applicants will be required to provide documents supporting their claim for financial assistance. The applicant’s family’s annual income must be below €36,399. The scholarship amount granted ultimately depends on the student’s financial need. The grant may also include the student’s living expenses, meals at the university cafeteria, and an allowance.

The scholarship will initially be awarded for one year. If the student is able to produce sufficient academic achievements, they may request for the scholarship to be renewed every year.

Applications are open from July 15th to September 30th. Failure to meet these deadlines will result in disqualification.

3. Scholarships for Refugee Students/ Students with International Protection

  • Scholarship Amount: Full tuition fees and fee-waiver for student services
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to students that have refugee status. The student must gain entry into Italy and an offer of admission in any degree at the University of Padua. They must also obtain the minimum amount of credits required by their degree.

This scholarship will be granted for one year. Every year there will be 100 scholarships offered by the Italian Ministry of Interior. The scholarship grant will also cover the student’s accommodation, meals from the university, and any other school-related expense.

The applicant must gain the status of refugee by July 30 in order to qualify for this scholarship.

Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Padua

1. Scholarships awarded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

  • Scholarship Amount: €900, monthly
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to international and Italian students that are permanent residents of a foreign country. Applicants pursuing a Master’s must not be over 28 years of age while those pursuing Doctoral’s must not be over 30 years of age.

Applicants applying for an Italian-taught course must provide proof of Italian language proficiency. Alternatively, if it is an English-taught course, they must also present proof of proficiency in the English language.

Applicants must be completed online through the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. All applicants must be completed on or before July 13th. Late applications will not be considered.

2. Galilean School of Higher Education Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: Full tuition fees and up to €5,000 allowance
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a non-Italian university and must have already received an offer of admission into any Master’s degree at the University of Padua. Eligible applicants must also not be over the age of 26 during the time of application.

Eligible applicants for this scholarship available at the University of Padua will be required to have two referees send reference letters during their application. Applicants will also be required to submit a cover letter.

The Galilean School of Higher Education is the University of Padua’s, higher school of excellence. Students will be held to a very high standard and applicants awarded this scholarship will be held to an even higher one in order to maintain their scholarship.

Applications for this scholarship will be from January 18th to March 7th.

This scholarship also covers the student’s living expenses, travel expenses, reimbursement of study-related expenditure, and a living allowance.
