This scholarship at the University of Iowa is awarded to incoming international students with an impressive and holistic application. Transcripts from high school and official ACT or SAT scores are reviewed. International students are considered automatically upon admission to the university.

The scholarship award ranges from $500 to $10,000 a year depending on merit. The International Distinction in Education Award is annually renewable for four years or until the completion of the scholar’s undergraduate degree. Scholars must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50 to maintain the scholarship.

3. The Rhodes Dunlap Scholarship for Achievement in First, Second & Third Years

These scholarships are for undergraduate students in their first, second, or third year of study. The University of Iowa awards these scholarships to students who have achieved exceptional academic progress. Skills, knowledge, and performance in their respective fields become the basis of awarding. Aside from this, students chosen for this award contribute to the community of the University of Iowa. Contribution can be through leadership, research, or creative endeavors.

4. Graduate College Post-Comprehensive Research Fellowship

This University of Iowa scholarship is actually an internal fellowship program is for graduate students who have achieved exceptional academic progress who have in their early years of graduate training. The coursework and research activities of the students are also considered during the selection process.

Additionally, graduate students who have held assistantship positions for two years will have a higher chance of being awarded the scholarship.

The award also gives partial coverage of the recipient’s health and dental insurance.

This fellowship is by nomination only and candidates must be endorsed by their respective department to be considered for the fellowship. Students must also submit supplemental materials for their applications.

5. Iowa Arts Fellowship

  • Scholarship Amount: $20,000, full tuition, 50% coverage of mandatory fees

Students interested in applying for an assistantship are encouraged to seek vacant positions on the university’s official website. The search can only be accessed by enrolled or admitted graduate students who have official website credentials.

Tuition scholarships can range between $580 to $6,153 per semester depending on the appointment. Complete coverage of tuition is possible under an assistantship if the graduate student fulfills the maximum hours needed.
