University of Birmingham Scholarships

Undergraduate Scholarships at University of Birmingham

1. CATS Colleges Outstanding Achievement Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £2,500
  • Eligibility Criteria: The scholarship is open to both EU and non-EU students. To be considered an eligible applicant, the student must have received an offer for admission for a full-time undergraduate program at the university, be currently enrolled at a CATS college in the UK, be entering their first year, and be able to clear the remaining fees not covered by the scholarship by November 1st. This scholarship is not applicable for students applying for Medicine and Surgery or Dental Surgery courses.

To apply, CATS College students must contact their Higher Education Officer. Students may also apply for this scholarship at the University of Birmingham themselves by completing an application form through their Higher Education Officer. The scholarship will be awarded to only one applicant every year.

All applications must be submitted before June 1st.

2. University of Birmingham UK International School Undergraduate Outstanding Achievement Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £2,500
  • Eligibility Criteria: This scholarship is only available to the highest academic performing students currently studying in the UK. The student must have accepted an offer for admission for a full-time undergraduate program at the university by June 1st and be classified as an overseas payer by the University. This scholarship is also not applicable for students applying for Medicine and Surgery or Dental Surgery courses.

Candidates chosen for the award must also agree to represent the University and their prior institution. Application for this University of Birmingham scholarship is done through completing an application form and sending it via email to the University. There will be two scholarships awarded every year.

All applications must be submitted before June 1st.

3. Bellerbys Outstanding Achievement Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £2,500
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be considered an eligible applicant, the student must be currently enrolled at a Bellerbys College in the UK, must have already been accepted into a full-time undergraduate degree at the university, be entering their first year, and be able to cover the remaining fees not covered by the scholarship by November 1st. The scholarship will only be honored for first-year costs. This scholarship is also not applicable for students applying for Medicine and Surgery or Dental Surgery courses.

To apply, Bellerbys College students must contact their Higher Education Officer. Students can apply for the scholarship themselves by completing an application form and submitting it via email or through their Higher Education Officer. The scholarship will be awarded to only one applicant every year.

All applications must be submitted before June 1st.

Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Birmingham

1. University of Birmingham Commonwealth Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £3,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: This scholarship will automatically be offered to students who have been offered admission for a Master’s degree and will start their studies in September, are from one of the countries participating in the Commonwealth Games and are classified by the University to be an overseas payer.
  • Degree Offered: All Master’s programs, excluding programs from Birmingham Business School. This scholarship is only available for on-site courses.

All applications must be submitted before the deadline of July 1st.

This scholarship was made to enable students with financial concerns the opportunity to study at the University. The University is also a part sponsor of the Commonwealth Games.

Once you have been offered this University of Birmingham scholarship, there is an acceptance deadline that is to be minded. Lastly, the student will still be required to pay the admission deposit of £2,000 to secure the scholarship fully.

2. Global Masters Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £10,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: For academically outstanding students with an overall grade from their bachelor’s degree equivalent to at least 70% in the UK grading system. To be considered an eligible applicant, the student must have already accepted an admission offer for a Master’s degree, be a part of one of the qualified countries, be classified by the University to be an overseas payer, and be able to provide proof of academic excellence during their bachelor’s degree.
  • Degree Offered: All Master’s programs, excluding programs from Birmingham Business School.

It is a competitive scholarship, and every year, only 30 scholarships will be awarded to the most academically talented international students. The selection process for candidates will be done after the application period has passed and will be done by the academic faculty across the university’s five colleges.

If eligible for this scholarship at the University of Birmingham, all applications must be submitted before the deadline of June 30th.

3. Chevening Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: Full tuition fee for one year
  • Eligibility Criteria: Awarded to skilled graduates with the potential to be possible future leaders. It is available to international students, excluding students from the USA and EU. The student must submit prior education documents, two references/ recommendation letters, have already accepted an admission offer for a Master’s degree, and possess at least two years of work experience.

All applications must be submitted before November 2nd, through the Chevening website.

This scholarship is only available for students who plan to study at the UK campus. Applicants that are shortlisted will be invited to undergo an interview at the British embassy in their city.

These scholarships are funded by the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The scholarship covers tuition fees and flight and living costs while the student is in the UK.
