Undergraduate Scholarships at University of Milan

1. Educational corridor – Monastery of Mar Musa

In coordination with the MAR MUSA Monastery in Syria, the University of Milan provides scholarships through a project that intends to help Syrians continue their studies in the university. The Mar Musa Monastery is in charge of the first selection of students and will forward their choices to the university. Students need first to submit admission requirements and pass any necessary evaluation exams.

The final evaluation will be assessed on the following requirements – grade average, evaluation of academic path, curriculum vitae, work experience, and language knowledge. The students first selected by the monastery must submit an application form, passport, high school diploma, and other necessary documents relevant to their program. There will also be an interview. Final scholars will be notified, and their benefits will be granted in two installments. This University of Milan scholarship will be automatically renewed every year for the standard duration of their program, provided they enroll regularly and have earned at least 50% of the university credits from the previous academic year.

2. University Scholarships (Need-based Grants)

University of Milan awards various scholarships to help its students financially and one of these is the need-based grants. Annually, 750 of these grants are awarded. It is paid through the Carta La Statale, the University personal badge students use to access student services.

Requirements are posted every year, along with the call for applications. Applicants also need to access the university’s Online Service Desk for the application. After being granted the offer, students must complete a certain number of units within a certain period.

3. University Scholarships (Merit scholarships)

Students who apply for or are recipients of the need-based grants and DSU (regional) scholarships are automatically ranked for this scholarship since it is added to these specific grants; thus, there is no need for a separate application. However, the applicant must first meet the weight average requirement of at least the 95th percentile to be considered.

Of the 160 scholarships granted every year, 130 are set aside for successful applicants enrolled in years after the first. Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Milan

1. Excellence Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: 6,000 euros worth of scholarship; all-inclusive tuition fee exemption

The University of Milan’s Excellence Scholarships is intended for academically outstanding students about to start their master’s degree programs. There are 153 awards of this scholarship, 53 of which are worth 6,000 euros. Meanwhile, the other 100 awards are intended for a tuition fee exemption.

The applicant’s academic records and curriculum vitae will be evaluated, with academics bearing more weight. This University of Milan scholarship benefits will be provided in two installments. The scholarship may be renewed after a year if the student can prove that they have completed 90% or more of the required university credits. This scholarship is incompatible with the Erasmus and Mobility programs.

2. UNICORE 3.0 – University Corridors for Refugees

  • Scholarship Amount: scholarship worth 3,000 euros; free accommodation; meal card
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • A resident from Ethiopia with refugee status
    • A grade average of at least 24/30 (based on the Italian System)

The UNICORE 3.0 – University Corridors for Refugees is a project which aims to encourage refugees from Ethiopia to pursue their studies in Italy. It is made possible through local and international partners, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Applicants will be evaluated based on grade average, evaluation of academic path, curriculum vitae, and working experience. To apply, one must submit a copy of their Refugee Identity card, a certificate confirming the qualification for their chosen program, transcripts, curriculum vitae, and other relevant documents. They may also submit a motivation letter, letters of references, and a short introduction video, but these are not mandatory. Selected applicants will move forward to an interview. After which, the final ranking will be drawn, and passers will be notified.

3. University Scholarships (Merit scholarships)

Every year, the University of Milan grants Merit Scholarships, which supplements the benefits of need-based grants or regional scholarships, and international students may apply for the former. Among the 160 awards given every year, 30 of these are awarded to 1st time enrollees for the 1st year of their master’s degree program.

Also, there is no separate application since it is a supplement to the regional and university scholarships. However, to be assessed, students must meet the weighted-average mark of at least 80th percentile.
