1. CEW+ Scholarships

The University of Michigan has few prestigious and competitive scholarships available to undergraduate students, both US residents and international students alike. One of those is the CEW+ Scholarship Program, which is primarily offered to women undergraduate students. It was established in 1970 to give recognition to women’s academic and professional potential. Since then, the University of Michigan has awarded over 2,000 CEW+ scholarships. The minimum award for this University of Michigan scholarship is $1,000 and eligible candidates must be pursuing a STEM degree.

2. International Student/Undergraduate Scholarship

The International Student/Undergraduate Scholarship at the University of Michigan is awarded to international undergraduate students. Some departments offer this scholarship award, and some do not. However, the University of Michigan-Dearborn provides this scholarship to incoming first-year international undergraduate students with outstanding academic credentials and English proficiency scores. In addition, the International Student Scholarship can be renewed for four years, totaling $40,000.

3. The Gloria Barron Wilderness Society Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by the University of Michigan’s School of Environment and Sustainability to its graduate students. Eligible candidates must pursue an interest in researching wilderness-related topics. Thus, they must contribute to the environmental endeavors of the school, such as landscape conservation, biodiversity protection, and climate change mitigation. They must also demonstrate high academic performance to qualify. To support their research and other activities, they will be given an award of $15,000.

4. Graduate Fellowships

Fellowships are one of the funding programs of the University of Michigan for graduate students. There are several fellowships available that are either funded by the university or outside organizations and donors. Obtaining a fellowship is a way for students to gain the financial means necessary to achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals. In addition, fellowships also allow students to develop new skills, create connections, and build their professional reputations.

For example, the College of Literature, Science and the Arts or LSA International Institute offers several graduate fellowships, all of which contain fee remission, travel funding, and coverage of living expenses. For example, the Rackham International Research Awards is a fellowship program offered to support master’s and doctoral students in conducting their research activities outside of the United States. It covers travel and living expenses as well as research-related expenses, including laboratory supplies and the purchase of archival materials. In addition, students will receive a maximum award of $10,000 and/or a minimum award of $6,5000. To qualify, students must demonstrate outstanding academic credentials and professional promise. 5. Research and Teaching Assistantships

The University of Michigan offers scholarships in the form of research and teaching assistantships to graduate students. These opportunities allow them to have a glimpse of what it is like to work in the academe and research field. They will work closely with mentors and other graduate students. As a result, students will have the chance to upskill, improve their academic performance, and build up essential professional skills. They will receive living stipends, tuition remission, and other student fees as compensation. In addition, some assistantship programs provide health insurance.
