As a competitive scholarship grant, the International Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships are handed over to only a handful of applicants manifesting a noteworthy academic achievement in their secondary studies. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must attain the minimum admission requirements set by the university for international students. Requirements include a certain degree of English proficiency, grade requirements, and equivalency assessment.

Students meeting the minimum admission requirements, along with an impressive academic record will then be advised by the university to receive the scholarship grant. Students need not apply for this scholarship grant, and qualified applicants are automatically notified of the procedures of accepting the scholarship offer.

Students accepting the scholarship offer will enjoy a tuition fee reduction, ranging from $5,500 to $8,500 depending on the assessment of the scholarship committee, to be received on their first year of study. Receiving the scholarship requires successive renewals, in which they can receive a tuition fee reduction amounting to $4,000 per year, making a total of $17,500 to $20,500 for four years of their study.

And to realize this vision, the university unveiled its most prestigious scholarship grant, awarded to the top international student-applicant that manifests both strong leadership capacity and outstanding academic profile.

The Franco J. Vaccarino President’s Scholarship remains to be the most prestigious scholarship grant at the University of Guelph and awarded to one international student-applicant with superior leadership ability and potential, as demonstrated through positions held, extra-curricular activities, involvement in high school and communities, and reference support.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications online upon securing admission to any bachelor’s degree program at the University of Guelph. Applicants based on the mentioned criteria will be shortlisted and are invited to the campus for an interview. These interview sessions will test the applicant’s wit and ability to demonstrate the leadership skills they honed for years.

Once completed, the university will select one grantee to receive the scholarship and shall be notified through writing. The grantee shall enjoy a scholarship grant of $42,500 – $8,250 of which shall be given annually for four years of study, plus one $9,500 stipend for summer research assistantship.

3. Academic Leadership International Entrance Scholarships

Valuing the leadership potentials of all students, this scholarship was created by the University of Guelph to encourage more leaders to experience learning in a well-established Canadian university. Through the Academic Leadership International Entrance Scholarships, students demonstrating leadership, innovation, and strong advocacy, are given a chance to further their potential through education.

Being one of the most prestigious scholarship grants in the university, the Academic Leadership International Entrance Scholarship only awards a valuable tuition fee reduction to only ten applicants – all of which are waitlisted applicants of the Franco J. Vaccarino President’s Scholarship but were not given a chance to be selected as grantees.

Interested applicants who applied, and were shortlisted for the President’s Scholarship are already considered for evaluation to receive the scholarship grant. Qualifiers are then screened based on their leadership background and academic merit in their secondary studies. After a thorough selection process, only ten applicants will be selected to enjoy the scholarship grant.

Students selected for the scholarship will enjoy a semester tuition fee reduction of $2,500, amounting to a total of $20,000 within four years of study. To continue receiving the scholarship grant, students must remain registered in full-time studies and achieve a minimum of 80.0%.

Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Guelph

1. International Doctoral Tuition Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: Scholarship grant of $50,000 ($12,500 per year, for four years)

As an extension of the dedication of the University of Guelph for internationalization, the university offered a scholarship to support outstanding international student-applicants for a doctoral degree.

There would be no separate application process required for applicants to apply for this scholarship. Qualified students will automatically be notified by the admissions office, together with the release of the applicant’s admission notice. Both academic and extracurricular engagements are screened to determine applicants to receive the scholarship grant.

Qualified applicants will receive a total of $50,000 scholarship grant, given at $12,500 per year throughout their study. Grantees must also maintain a minimum A admission average and a minimum B admission average for grantees taking up DVSC programs.

2. Art Rouse Memorial Scholarship in Veterinary and Comparative Cancer Studies

  • Scholarship Amount: Scholarship grant amounting to $120,000, payable over 4 years of study ($30,000 per year)
  • Eligibility Criteria: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree holder, applying for a Doctoral degree

With his lifelong dedication to canines and rescued animals, Art Rouse donated his estate to the University of Guelph to assist doctoral degree student-applicants with a degree in veterinary medicine to further their studies in the service of animals.

This competitive scholarship grant is only awarded to one grantee every four years and has built its reputation of being one of the choice scholarship grants for qualified students of the University of Guelph – Ontario Veterinary College.

Interested applicants must submit their application containing the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, Reference Letter, a research proposal or summary, and an application letter.
