1. Generation Google Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount
    • €7000 for university purposes only (i.e. tuition fees, textbooks, equipment, etc.)
  • Eligibility Criteria
    • must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a university for at least one year before the application
    • intends to take up a full-time, computer-related undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Groningen

The Generation Google Scholarship is an international grant that caters to those studying computer sciences, computer engineering, and any other closely related field. This scholarship is awarded by Google every year to promote underrepresented minorities in the field including women, who are highly encouraged to apply for this scholarship available at the University of Groningen. It aims to create the next generation of bold and innovative computer scientists.

The application for the Generation Google Scholarship is conducted online and consists of several steps. All prospective students must provide general information about themselves, including details on their current university and why they would like to study computer-related courses at the University of Groningen. They would also require a comprehensive resume, transcripts of records from current and previous academic institutions, and a letter of reference from a professor or adviser.

The application will also include four essays, and any prospective student is highly encouraged to spend time and effort coming up with strong answers. Grants are provided to those with exceptional academic records and compelling application statements.

2. Sustainable Energy Development (ESED) Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount
    • $10000 per year, maximum of two years
  • Eligibility Criteria
    • currently enrolled or plans to enroll in the Energy and Environmental Sciences MSc program at the University of Groningen
    • be a citizen of a developing country as identified by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development

The Sustainable Energy Development (ESED) Scholarship is a grant provided by the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership. It aims to promote sustainable energy development and to promote further studies in the fields of energy and environmental sciences, especially in underdeveloped countries. Prospective awardees must be a citizen of a developing country or territory, and a list of qualified countries can be found here.

All applicants must provide electronic copies of all required documents including passport photo page or birth certificate; comprehensive curriculum vitae with details on educational backgrounds, employment histories, and extracurricular activities; admission letter from the University of Groningen; the program’s curriculum; university transcripts; academic reference form filled out by a faculty member; and personal reference letter filled out by a non-family member knowledgeable on your qualifications, such as another faculty member or an employer. Once all documents have been prepared, the applicant must then create an account on the official website of the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership. There, they can fill out the online application form and upload their required documents. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible to prevent delays.

3. University of Groningen Talent Grant: Philosophy (MSc)

  • Scholarship Amount
    • €2500 for one academic year
  • Eligibility Criteria
    • will be enrolling or currently enrolled in the Philosophy, Politics and Economics MA or the Philosophy MA at the University of Groningen
    • citizen of countries not in the European Union or European Economic Area

The University of Groningen Talent Grant: Philosophy (MSc) is an award given by the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Groningen. There is no separate application needed for this  University of Groningen scholarship— the application to the master’s program itself is already an application for the grant. All candidates must be from non-EU/EEA countries and are considered for the scholarship regardless of their financial capabilities. There are four awardees each year.

4. University of Groningen Talent Grant: Educational Sciences (MSc)

  • Scholarship Amount
    • €4000, one-time-only
  • Eligibility Criteria
    • will be enrolling or currently enrolled in the Educational Sciences MSc at the University of Groningen
    • citizen of countries not in the European Union or European Economic Area

The University of Groningen Talent Grant: Educational Sciences (MSc) is a scholarship given by the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Groningen. This University of Groningen scholarship is awarded to those who are not eligible for other scholarships and require financial assistance paying full tuition fees for the program.

Prospective students can send in their application for the grant by composing a letter of motivation addressed to the department. In this letter, they are expected to cite their reasons for needing the grant strongly and compellingly. The letter can be sent through the email associated with the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences, which can be found here.

Do take note that these are only a handful of scholarships offered by the University of Groningen.
