Undergraduate Scholarships at University of Essex

1. Americas Regional Scholarship (Undergraduate)

  • Scholarship Amount: £3,000 tuition fee discount

The Americas Regional Scholarship offer is intended for first-year undergraduate students originating from the Americas (United States of America, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru). Only ten (10) students are granted the offer every year, and deferment may cause the withdrawal of the award. Thus, applicants need to be sure that they will proceed to Essex.

Students with dual nationalities and do not pay international student fees are ineligible. To apply, interested students may fill up an application form.

2. Europe (non-European Union) Regional Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £3,000 tuition fee discount
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Self-funded
    • Resident of qualified countries
    • First-year student of their degree course

The Europe (non-European Union) Regional Scholarship is offered to undergraduate and Master’s program international students originating from Albania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Montenegro, Norway, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, or Ukraine. Applicants must also have a solid decision on proceeding with their studies at Essex, as deferment of enrollment also results in the withdrawal of the award.

There is no separate application needed to be filed as all academic applications will be assessed. The awarding of this University of Essex scholarship will be based on academic merit.

3. Indian sub-continent Regional Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £4,000 tuition fee discount
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Resident of qualified countries
    • Self-funded
    • Registered first-year student of full-time undergraduate degree

First-year undergraduate Essex students from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan are eligible for the Indian sub-continent Regional Scholarship. The tuition fee discount is only applicable during the first year. Students must be firm on their decision to continue to Essex, as deferment of enrollment will result in the offer being forfeited.

There is no separate scholarship needed to be filed. Students will automatically be evaluated for the offer during their application to the university.

Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Essex

1. Academic Excellence International Masters Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: up to £5,000 tuition fee discount

The Academic Excellence International Masters Scholarship is intended for students of full-time Master’s programs, not including MBA students. The academic requirement and tuition fee discount benefit varies per country, with £2,000 being the lowest discount a scholar may get. Scholars originating from qualified countries and have finished a degree from any UK university besides Essex may receive a benefit worth £2,000.

There is no separate application needed for this University of Essex scholarship. Students will be assessed along with their application to Essex, and those qualified will be automatically awarded the benefits.

2. Africa Scholarship Programme

  • Scholarship Amount: £4,000 tuition fee discount
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • National of a member state of the African Union
    • Self-funded
    • Graduate of any African country or countries specified
    • Applicant for full-time Master’s course

Africans who graduated from any African country, UK university (besides Essex), or specified country may qualify for the Africa Scholarship Programme. The academic requirements vary per country or university the applicant may have graduated from.

A separate application process for this offer is not necessary as the student will be assessed along with their application to Essex. The scholarship will automatically be awarded if they are deemed qualified.

3. Americas Regional Scholarship (Masters)

    • First-year student of a Masters course
    • Proof and acceptance of an official offer of admission

Interested individuals from the United States of America, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru may apply for the Americas Regional Scholarship. However, they must not defer their entry to the university, or else the award will be withdrawn.

Students need to submit an application form. The official offer of admission to Essex will come from the Graduate Admissions Office. There are ten offers of this University of Essex scholarship awarded every month, including the undergraduates. The benefit is only applicable for the first year.

4. The Eleonore Koch Fund

  • Scholarship Amount: £5,000 tuition fee discount
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Latin American student
    • Offered full-time MA Art History and Theory program
  • Degree Offered: Master’s

The Eleonore Koch Fund is offered by the School of Philosophy and Art History to only one Latin American student studying MA in Art History and Theory. Aside from an application form, a 300-word statement as to how the offer would help them and a one-page curriculum vitae may also be submitted.

The benefit will automatically be deducted from the student’s tuition fees. Recipients cannot defer the award for another year, and those who will not accept it within two weeks since notification will have the award forfeited.
