Founded after a generous donation by the prominent Baxter family of textile manufacturers in 1881, the University of Dundee gained status as an independent university by royal charter in 1967. The University of Dundee is located in the Scottish city of Dundee, and has grown significantly since it was founded.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships At University of Dundee for International Students

1. Global Excellence Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: £25,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: After being offered entry into an undergraduate program at the University of Dundee, students who have achieved a UK AAB (or equivalent) at at least an A level are eligible to apply.

Students who are granted the Global Excellence Scholarship must attend the University of Dundee full time. There are two levels of award, which depend on the applicant’s academic achievements. The two award levels are £5,000 per year, capping out at £25,000, or £2,000 per year, totaling up to £10,000.

There is no application for the Global Excellence Scholarship. When the Admissions Team reviews your application to the school, your eligibility for this University of Dundee scholarship will be determined. The Global Excellence Scholarship is also available for postgraduate students.

Undergraduate Scholarships At University of Dundee for International Students

1. Global Citizenship Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £5,000 per year, or £25,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: This scholarship is open to students who have already been accepted into an undergraduate program at the University of Dundee with the intention of studying full time.

The Global Citizenship Scholarship was meant to aid international students who have demonstrated a firm alignment with the University of Dundee’s values. Such values include integrity, teamwork, valuing people, making a difference, and overall excellence.

The £5,000 award amount will be waived from the student’s overall tuition fees for each year of study, up to a maximum of 5 years. This scholarship is not available to applicants studying medicine or dentistry, or those who will only attend part-time.

2. The South Asia Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: Up to £25,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students must be domiciled in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka to be eligible.

Full time students who are awarded the South Asia scholarship will receive £5,000 per year of study in an undergraduate program. Applicants must be studying full time at Dundee University and have international fee status.

A separate application is not required; eligibility for this University of Dundee scholarship will be determined via information gathered from the program application.

Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Dundee for International Students

1. Saltire Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £8,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: This scholarship is open to students from China, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Pakistan, the USA, or Canada. Applicants must have been granted a Conditional or Unconditional Offer to study at the University of Dundee in a full time postgraduate program.

The Saltire Scholarship is an opportunity provided by the Scottish government in collaboration with several schools throughout Scotland. This scholarship available at the University of Dundee places an emphasis on science, technology, healthcare and medical sciences, renewable energy, and creative industries. Postgraduate students who are selected for the award will have displayed leadership qualities, and have a broad range of interests outside of their academic pursuits.

Up to 50 master’s degree students will be granted the £8,000 to be put toward their tuition fees in any year of full time study.

2. Alumni Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: Up to £3,000 per year of study.
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students must have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate program at the University of Dundee and choose to continue their education there are eligible.

Current students at the University of Dundee who are continuing their education at the school in pursuit of higher degrees will have this scholarship automatically applied to their records. If students have not previously attended the school, but have family members who have graduated from UoD, they are welcome to contact the admissions department to discuss this scholarship. They must be willing to provide proof of their relationship to the graduate and current application reference.

3. International College Dundee Entrant Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: Up to £4,500 per year of study.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Students must choose to study at the International College Dundee as a pathway to their chosen University of Dundee continuation degree.

If awarded the International College Dundee Entrant Scholarship, £4,500 per year of study at the University of Dundee will be applied to the student’s tuition fees. This scholarship is applicable after an applicant has completed their program of choice at the International College Dundee and progressed to their desired continuation degree at the University of Dundee.

Students who align with the University of Dundee’s core values, such as integrity and working together toward making a difference, will be considered for the scholarship. Additionally, students must have achieved an academic average of an A, and demonstrated notable uplift in their performance during their tenure at ICD.
