University of Copenhagen Scholarships for International Students

University of Copenhagen Scholarships for International Students
Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships at the University of Copenhagen
1. Danish Government Scholarship

Denmark’s Ministry of Higher Education and Science offers the Danish Government Scholarship for international students wishing to enroll at the University of Copenhagen. This scholarship available at the University of Copenhagen aims to cover most, if not all, of the costs a person would need to study in Denmark—this includes a partial to full tuition fee and additional allowances for basic living needs. All those who fit the criteria are eligible for the Danish Government Scholarship regardless of their financial stability.
The Danish Government Scholarship is awarded to those with exceptional academic performance. The higher the GPA, the greater chances there are of a waived tuition fee and additional allowance for living expenses.
There is no separate application process for the Danish Government Scholarship as all those who apply for the University of Copenhagen will be considered. Once the prospective student has accepted their admission into the program, they could be getting an email regarding the scholarship in a few days. If the student did not receive such an email, it means that they had not been offered the scholarship.
Those who had been nominated for the scholarship can choose to either accept or decline. There is a deadline set in the email, and if a response has not been received by the deadline the scholarship is revoked and offered elsewhere. Thus, students must check their emails regularly and thoroughly to prevent this from happening.
Do note that the Danish Government Scholarship is awarded after the applicant has accepted admission and is charged a tuition fee. The student cannot rely on receiving the scholarship in regards to choosing to study at the University of Copenhagen. There is a deadline for payment that must be met or the admission offer will be rescinded. Paid tuition fees will be reimbursed by the university if the scholarship has been awarded to the student after the payment due date.
2. The Gen Foundation Grant

- must be applying for a postgraduate degree in the natural sciences, particularly food sciences or food technology
- must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

The Gen Foundation was established on the 14th of August 1998 as a way to promote cross-cultural exchanges between Japan and the rest of the global society. It is a charitable trust that supports the natural sciences like physical sciences, environmental sciences, and food sciences, among others. It is run by a set of trustees that carefully peruse through numerous applications for candidates that excel in their fields from all over the world.
An applicant will need physical copies of the required documents to apply for this scholarship at the University of Copenhagen. The requirements include the official application form that can be found on The Gen Foundation’s official website with details typed out and not handwritten, English only; a recent passport-sized photograph attached to the application form; a comprehensive resume, English only; two original and signed non-personal reference letters written in either English or Japanese; and an acceptance letter from the University of Copenhagen. Please note that all original documents submitted will not be returned.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked for an interview. This interview will take place in The Gen Foundation’s office in London, but telephone interviews can be easily arranged if the applicant is from outside the UK.
Awardees of the scholarship will be sent their grant via check if they live in the UK, or through wire transfers if they live elsewhere.
All successful candidates will need to submit a report to The Gen Foundation at the end of their studies.
3. Generation Google Scholarship

- must have been enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at a university before the application
- intends to enroll, or has already been accepted, to a computer-related undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Copenhagen
- possesses a strong academic record, great leadership qualities, and an aim to improve representation in the field of computer sciences

The Generation Google Scholarship is an award granted by Google towards women studying computer sciences, computer engineering, or any other closely related field. It aims to help women make a mark and become innovators in the field of technology where they have been largely underrepresented. Successful candidates will be awarded based on their academic background, leadership skills, and their desire to diversify the next generation of computer scientists.
The application for the Generation Google Scholarship is an online process that consists of several requirements. This includes general background information including contact details and current and prospective educational institutions; a comprehensive resume; transcripts of records from previous and current universities; and a reference letter from a professional, like an instructor or supervisor.
The applicant will also be requested to answer four short essays for this scholarship available at the University of Copenhagen. Applicants are highly encouraged to spend some time coming up with strong and compelling answers as this will help gauge how suitable they are for the scholarship. Both the application statements and academic performance will be taken into consideration by Google’s scholarship team.
