University of Calgary Scholarships for International Students

University of Calgary Scholarships

Undergraduate Scholarships at the University of Calgary

Candidates should apply for all undergraduate internal scholarships on the school’s website. You will need to make an account on My UCalgary, select the scholarship you wish to apply for, then complete an online application. The University has a great system whereby, once you apply for one award, you will be considered for all others that you are eligible for.

1. CIBC International Entrance Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: $15,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students enrolled about to enter their first year

The University of Calgary is opening this scholarship to all international undergraduate students enrolled to study any subject. All you need to do is prove your English language proficiency and you are on your way!

It gets even better. If you maintain a GPA of 2.60 or more, then you will be eligible to receive the award in your second, third and fourth year at the university. Applications are accepted through the school’s website. There are only two of these awards, so competition is tight.

2. CIBC International Entrance Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: $10,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students enrolled about to enter their first year

The CIBC Alternate Solutions Group is offering one scholarship of $10,000 to international students in their first year. The financial solutions company is hoping to globalize the student experience by providing opportunities to international candidates.

CIBC will award the money to students who can display impressive academic merit. So, if you are interested, head to the school’s website to apply.

3. Romeo and Eva De Guia Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £2,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students enrolled about to enter their second, third, or fourth year

If you have completed your first year at the University of Calgary, and are struggling with your finances, then consider applying for the Romeo and Eva De Guia Scholarship.

This scholarship at the University of Calgary is donated by Jenny De Guia along with friends and family and is open to all students enrolled in all courses. You just need to ensure an English Language proficiency requirement is satisfied.

The recipient is chosen based on academic merit and, as with previous undergraduate scholarships, applicants should head to the ‘Apply for Awards’ page on the school’s website.

Postgraduate Scholarships at the University of Calgary

1. Cumming School of Medicine Graduate Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: £20,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: enrolled on a course in the Cumming School of Medicine
  • Degree Offered: Master’s degree

All those hoping to study for a master’s degree in medicine should consider applying for this amazing opportunity.

With a large amount of financial aid available in this scholarship at the University of Calgary, the university is hoping to attract the best graduates and train them to be the world’s leading researchers. Those wishing to apply should complete the CSM Graduate Application form and email it to awardsgse@ucalgary.ca.

2. Eyes High Doctoral Recruitment Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: $30,000 for international students
  • Eligibility Criteria: students registered full-time in a doctoral program in the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
  • Degree Offered: Ph.D.

As one of Canada’s leading research universities and a global intellectual hub, the Faculty of Graduate Studies is offering this scholarship to encourage graduates to study at the University of Calgary. This scholarship name references the university’s motto – ‘Mo shùile togam suas’ meaning ‘I will lift up my eyes’ in Gaelic.

Hopeful applicants are invited to apply through the Entrance Awards page where they will submit an online application. This includes listing information of previous academic success, references, and other information detailing suitability for the award.

There are also two separate, similar Eyes High Doctoral scholarships worth up to $15,000. These can be found on the graduate database.

3. Terry and Sue White Doctoral Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: $11,000 per year
  • Eligibility Criteria: students registered on a full-time thesis-based doctoral program Degree Offered: Ph.D.

Dr. Terry H. White was a President and Vice-Chancellor at the university. He left in 2001 after numerous decades of service. During his employment, White had many achievements including acquiring research funding, undergraduate curriculum redesign, and the introduction of innovative research and education programs.

The friends and family of Sue and Terry White have donated this award of $11,000 per year for two years. They are looking to award the money to a student who can display excellent academic achievement. After the first year, award holders must complete a Student Progress Report, then they will be eligible to receive the funding for another year! Anyone studying for a doctorate course is welcome to apply.
