The university’s flagship scholarship for international undergraduate students is the Global Wildcat Award for Main Campus Study. Recipients for the Global Wildcat Award can be incoming first-year students or transfer students interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree at U of A.

The University of Arizona offers financial aid and scholarships to most of its graduate and undergraduate students. Generous financial opportunities for international students pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. degree at the University of Arizona are also available.

1. First-year Global Wildcat Award

This Global Wildcat Award is given to first-year international students pursuing an undergraduate degree at U of A. It is a merit-based award reserved for international students that demonstrate outstanding academic performance.

Recipients of this University of Arizona scholarship can receive up to $22,000 worth of scholarship depending on their academic merit and official test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, and PTE Academic).

The award is annually renewable for as long as the scholar makes satisfactory academic progress and meets the minimum requirement of units every semester.

2. Transfer Global Wildcat Award

The Transfer Global Wildcat Award is given to international transfer students from a community college or a non-U.S. institution. Applicants must previously be enrolled in a non-bachelors degree to be eligible for the scholarship.

Students previously enrolled in a four-year institution cannot apply for this University of Arizona scholarship. The scholarship amount received by recipients varies depending on academic excellence. Members of the Phi Theta Kappa who have a minimum GPA of 3.5 can receive the highest award of $18,000.

The award is renewable for two years for as long as the scholar meets the standard minimum requirements for renewal.

3. Global Academic Excellence Award

This competitive merit-based scholarship is reserved for academically excellent first-year and transfer students.

The scholarship amount varies depending on the recipient’s academic achievement and official test scores. First-year international students can receive up to $10,000 per year for four years.

Transfer students can receive $7,500 per academic year for two years. Recipients of the Global Academic Excellence Award are eligible to renew their scholarship for as long as they meet the standard minimum requirements for renewal.

4. Graduate Assistantships and Associateships

5. The Peter W. Likins Graduate Fellowship Award

This fellowship award is reserved for graduate students who overcame substantial adversity to be admitted into any graduate program at U of A. Only one Peter W. Likins Graduate Fellowship award is given per year.

The recipient of this award demonstrates excellent academic achievement and a strong passion for their advocacies and academics. Recipients of this fellowship are selected by the Dean of UA Graduate College from a pool of nominations from the graduate programs in the university.

Recipients of the award must be in first or second year standing in upon nomination to qualify for the award. Only one nomination can be submitted per graduate program. Direct application for this fellowship is not allowed.

6. Graduate College Fellowships

  • Scholarship Amount: $2,500 per semester

Graduate College Fellowships are awarded to academically excellent graduate and Ph.D. students at U of A. This University of Arizona fellowship aims to support international or domestic students in the completion of their graduate degrees.

The cash award varies per fellowship depending on the scholar’s academic achievement. International students pursuing a Master’s degree can receive up to $1,000 per semester while Ph.D. students can receive $2,500 per semester.

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and continue to be in good academic standing while under the scholarship.
