University of Amsterdam Scholarships
Undergraduate Scholarships at University of Amsterdam
1. Aon Scholarship Programme
- Scholarship Amount: €6000 on an installment basis
- Eligibility Criteria: Foreign students at the University of Amsterdam who are citizens of any country belonging to the European Economic Area

In cooperation with the Dutch organization for globalized education named Nuffic, Aon Corporation aims to provide opportunities for international students in the Netherlands who need financial support.
To be eligible for this scholarship available at the University of Amsterdam, applicants must be foreign students from any European Economic Area countries who are officially enrolled at the University of Amsterdam. Their research must also be related to Aon Corporation’s business endeavors, especially in the fields of health, risk, or retirement. A prioritizes applicants from marginalized groups, including (but not limited to) students with physical and/or mental disabilities, financial problems, and those who come from immigrant or refugee families.
To apply for this scholarship, the following documents must be submitted: an official transcript of records, 2 reference letters from a previous professor (one letter must indicate the financial aid needed by the applicant), a motivation letter, and a thesis proposal.
Applications must be submitted on or before September 15. Six students will be nominated by the University of Amsterdam in October, and the final list of recipients will be announced on November 19.
2. Amsterdam Merit Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: €6,000 per year (renewable for 3 years)
- Eligibility Criteria: Non-European students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the University of Amsterdam

This scholarship at the University of Amsterdam is based solely on academic merit and awarded to a limited number of students from countries outside Europe. Candidates must have an outstanding GPA (90-100% or A average) and proof of English language proficiency. Those who have a secondary school diploma from the US, UK, Canada (except Quebec), Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa are exempted from presenting language proficiency exam results.
To apply for this scholarship, submit the online application form along with the following documents: transcript of records, recommendation letter from a dean, professor, or academic supervisor, a 300-word motivation letter, and results from one of the following language tests: overall score of 100 for TOEFL Internet-based Test, 7.0 for IELTS, or 190 for Cambridge Assessment English.
3. Sino-Dutch Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: €16,113
- Eligibility Criteria: 3rd-year students from China who wish to study in the Netherlands for at least 1 academic year

Administered by Nuffic and the China Scholarship Council, the Sino-Dutch Scholarship is open to Chinese students who are in their final two years of undergraduate studies and have excellent academic credentials.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and permanent residents of China. To apply for this scholarship, prepare the following requirements: official transcript of records, a motivation letter, and Curriculum Vitae. The China Scholarship Council might request additional documents if necessary.

Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Amsterdam
1. Amsterdam Merit Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: €25,000
- Eligibility Criteria: Non-European students applying for a Master’s program at the University of Amsterdam that does not conduct interviews as part of its admission process

To be eligible for this scholarship at the University of Amsterdam, candidates must possess a first-class degree, a GPA of 3.7 or higher, or a weighted average equal to these grade assessment systems. They must also present results of English language proficiency exams taken within the past 2 years. An overall score of 95 for the TOEFL Internet-based Test, 7.0 for IELTS, or 190 for the Cambridge International Examination is required.
To apply for this scholarship, submit the following requirements: scholarship application form, transcript of records/GPA and diploma, language proficiency test results, 500-word motivation letter, a recommendation letter stating that the applicant belonged to the top 10% of the class in his/her previous academic institution, and a CV.

2. Orange Tulip Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: Full tuition fee coverage with an additional allowance of €5,000
- Eligibility Criteria: Non-European graduate students

The Orange Tulip Scholarship, handled by the Netherlands Education Support Offices, is providing opportunities for international students to pursue graduate studies in the Netherlands. This scholarship accepts applicants from any of the following countries: China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Korea, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, and Russia.

3. Mr Julia Henriëtte Jaarsma-Adolfs Fund
- Scholarship Amount: €16,500 for tuition fees and €8,500 for daily living costs
- Eligibility Criteria: Students from within and outside the European Economic Area who wish to pursue Law at the Amsterdam Law School

The Mr Julia Henriëtte Jaarsma-Adolfs Fund scholarship is awarded annually to aspiring law students who meet the strict selection criteria of the Amsterdam Law School.
To be eligible for this University of Amsterdam scholarship, applicants must belong to the top 10% of the class in his/her previous academic institution and have the equivalent average to the US system’s GPA (3.7 or higher) or the UK system’s first-class honors.
Applicants must submit the following documents: academic records, dean’s formal statement confirming that the applicant belongs to the top 10% of his/her class, 2 recommendation letters, a 500-word motivation letter, and a CV. They must also have taken a language exam within the past two years, with one of the following test results: minimum of 100 for TOEFL Internet-based Test, 7.0 for IELTS, and 190 (C1 Advanced) for Cambridge English Language Assessment.
