1.  University of South Australia (UniSA)

The University of South Australia (UniSA) is the most important higher education institution in Australia’s southern region. Ranked on the 295th place in the QS World University Ranking, UniSA offers more than 200 degrees in 40 different areas that include humanities, sciences, business, law, engineering and technology, and medicine.

With around 35,000 students, UniSA has six campuses in multiple cities of South Australia. The university also gives you the opportunity of studying in other countries through the “offshore degree programs”. These programs are offered in cooperation with universities in Asia.

Research is also very important at UniSA. It is the best university in the country for its research impact and engagement. PhDs are offered in five areas: STEM, business, arts, health, and social sciences.

As for admissions, the University of South Australia has no application fee if the application is done online. However, international students from certain countries cannot apply online and will have to do it through an authorized UniSA agent.

2. Bond University

Bond University is a small private university located in the state of Queensland. It hosts 4,100 students approx. and is best known for its three-semester academic year. This way, students can complete more credits in a year and finish their bachelor’s degrees in only two years.

This university is ranked as the 414th best institution in the QS World University Ranking. Also, it has ranked among the top 20 small universities and among the top 5 Australian universities for student satisfaction.

It has four faculties of health sciences and medicine, business, society and design, and law. Its programs include work opportunities, internships, and a free entrepreneurship program. Bond University’s facilities include student residences, a trading room, a legal skills center, a sports center, a sustainable development building, and modern laboratories.

3. Victoria University (VU)

Originally founded as a technical school in 1916, Victoria University (VU) was granted university status in 1990. VU has six colleges that offer tertiary degrees and vocation training to more than 45,000 students. 5,000 of them are international students.

VU has eight campuses in Melbourne and one in Sydney. These campuses include 12 research institutes and centers, multiple student residences, and a Polytechnic. It also offers programs overseas in partnership with universities in Asia.

Regarding applications, you’ll have to pay an application fee if you apply online or through a registered VU agent. However, Victoria University has no application fee if you apply in person through their international express applications.

4.  Central Queensland University (CQUniversity)

Founded in 1967, Central Queensland University (CQUniversity) is one of the biggest universities in Australia with 15 campuses and multiple sites in every mainland state of Australia. Its 35,000 students have the opportunity of studying on-campus, online, or switch between different campuses, which will give the opportunity of getting to know multiple Australian regions.

CQUniversity hosts over 5,000 international students who will be able to choose among 300 programs and courses. Actually, this is a dual-sector university, which means that it has a wide variety of vocational programs and tertiary education programs. These are offered by its six schools and 17 research centers and institutes.

5. University of Wollongong (UOW)

Another Australian university with no application fee is the University of Wollongong. With 196th place in the QS World University Ranking, the University of Wollongong (UOW) is among the top 10 best higher education institutions in Australia. It has a big international community, with 12,500 international students approx. out of 35,500 students.

UOW has nine campuses which include the main campus in Wollongong, campuses in Sydney, and regional campuses. It also has a campus in Dubai where you can start a degree in business or IT and then finish it in Australia.

UOW has five faculties of law, humanities, and arts; engineering and information sciences; science, medicine, and health; business; and social sciences. The university’s facilities include multiple student residences, 15 research institutes and centers, and an innovation acceleration center, and a publishing house.

6.  RMIT University

If you’d like to choose a major in the fields of arts and design, RMIT University is the perfect option since it is ranked as the best Australian university in this area. RMIT University has 223rd place in the QS World University Ranking and is one of the biggest in terms of the student population, with about 87,000 students.

Along with the college of design, the university has two colleges of science, engineering and health, and business and law. Its main campus is located in Melbourne, and there are two satellite campuses and a research site in other Australian cities. Additionally, RMIT University has two campuses in Vietnam and a coordinating center in Spain.

7.  University of Notre Dame Australia

The University of Notre Dame Australia is a private university with two campuses in Western Australia and one in Sydney. These campuses host nine schools that offer degree programs in different areas of health and medicine, business, theology, law, education, arts, and sciences. They offer both in-person and online programs.

As this is a Roman Catholic university, students must take courses in ethics, theology, and philosophy regardless of the program they choose.

Its facilities include eight teaching clinics, six libraries, and three research institutes. Over 12,000 students are educated here.

8. Charles Darwin University (CDU)

The final university in our list of universities in Australia with no application fee is Charles Darwin University (CUD. This is a relatively new institution as it was founded less than 20 years ago, in 2003, after the merger of two higher education institutions. Nevertheless, even if it is a young university, it already ranks among the top 750 universities worldwide. The university is known for its innovations in teaching, its research projects, and its great performance regarding graduate employment.

CDU has two faculties of law, education, business, and arts; and engineering, health, science, and the environment. These faculties are divided into ten schools and nine research institutes. CDU also has a department of vocational education and training, which serves more than half of the student population, which is 22,000 students in total.

Regarding applications, they are completely free if you complete the application process online. However, you also have the option of using the services of an education agent.
