1. Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP)

  • Scholarship Amount: $25,000 per year
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to Asian students interested in pursuing a degree in any of AFLSP’s partner universities. Applicants will be selected based on their English proficiency, academic excellence, personal integrity, intercultural interest, and leadership potential.

The AFLSP is a two-year scholarship program that aims to strengthen cross-cultural relations between East Asian countries by providing educational opportunities to high-caliber Asian students. Every year, 100 applicants receive this scholarship available at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Once accepted, they can choose any of their desired undergraduate or master’s degrees in any of the six partner universities, including SJTU. The annual scholarship amount is $25,000 per student, usable for tuition or living expenses. Once accepted, scholars must participate in BXAI’s summer program.

Applicants who are recipients of other scholarships from the Chinese government or organizations are ineligible to apply. Applicants must have finished high school and achieved a Chinese Level of HSK4. Furthermore, applicants must have received an acceptance letter from their chosen undergraduate program at SJTU.

The SGS is one of the best scholarships that you must consider when applying to Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The SGS has two classifications. Type A SGS is a full scholarship that covers tuition, accommodation, and insurance. On the other hand, Type B SGS is a partial scholarship covering school fees and medical insurance. Ideally, the SGS covers your expenses until the duration of your study, provided that you maintain satisfactory performance, attitude, and attendance.

The BTCSOL is offered to students from different nations to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Chinese language education. This scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, living, and insurance fees. BTCSOL lasts until the duration of your eligible undergraduate program, provided you maintain satisfactory attendance, conduct, and academic performance.

Postgraduate Scholarships at Shanghai Jiao Tong University

1. SJTU Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: Tuition, living, accommodation (RMB 1,000 to RMB 2,500 per month), and insurance

The SJTU scholarship is an exclusive Shanghai Jiao Tong University scholarship given to deserving prospective international students for a maximum of four years. The goal of this scholarship is to immerse talented individuals in an enriching academic experience at SJTU. It has three classifications, and depending on your scholarship classification, the scholarship amount varies. For classes A and B, the scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, and insurance. The only difference is that Class A also provides a living allowance and a higher accommodation fee than Class B. On the other hand, Class C only covers monthly accommodation (RMB 1,000) and insurance.

Since the scholarship entitles an eligible applicant to study a graduate program in China for free, the selection process for this scholarship is highly competitive.

3. Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages Scholarship (MTCSOL)
