Queen’s University Scholarships

Undergraduate Scholarships at Queen’s University

1. Principal’s Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: $4,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: Students with 95.0%+ grades in high school, and an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme grade of 39+ core; admission to Queen’s University bachelor’s program

The Principal’s Scholarship is an academic grant provided to top-performing undergraduates upon admission to any of Queen’s University’s undergraduate programs. Students must have high school grades of Students with 95.0%+ grades in high school, and an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme grade of 39+ core to qualify. This Queen’s University scholarship is a one-time subsidy of $4,000 for the first year of undergraduate studies. Slots are unlimited and are awarded automatically upon application to Queen’s University, so long as the grade criteria are met.

2. Excellence Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: $1,500
  • Eligibility Criteria: Students with 90.0-94.9%+ grades in high school, and an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme grade of 36-38+ core; admission to Queen’s University bachelor’s program

For those whose grades didn’t pass the Principal’s Scholarship, but are still well-deserving achievers in their own right, they may apply under the Excellence Scholarship. Also a merit-based scholarship, the Excellence Scholarship program features a slightly lower grade requirement of 90.0-94.9%+ grades in high school, and an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme grade of 36-38+ core. Scholarships of $1,500 for the first year of study are given alongside admission to any of Queen’s University’s undergraduate programs. Like the Principal’s Scholarship, an unlimited number of scholarships may be redeemed for deserving students.

3. Queen’s University International Admission Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: $9,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: Admission to any of Queen’s University’s bachelor’s programs

A more prestigious scholarship program, the Queen’s University International Admission Scholarship is only available for 10 international students per year exhibiting high academic performance. The grant is a total of $9,000 for the first year of undergraduate study. Once a student applies to any of Queen’s University’s bachelor’s programs, no additional application is required to avail of the scholarship.

Postgraduate scholarships are also available at Queen’s University. Here are some options:

Postgraduate Scholarships at Queen’s University

1. Queen’s Funding for Graduate Students

  • Scholarship Amount: $18,000 or more, good for the student’s 4-year stay
  • Eligibility Criteria: enrolled students in select Master’s and Ph.D. programs; good academic standing; requested financial support upon application
  • Degree Offered: Master’s (in research degree programs), Ph.D.

The university’s go-to funding source for graduate students, the Queen’s Funding for Graduate Students is an internally-funded scholarship that grants eligible students a minimum of $18,000 for graduate studies. This Queen’s University scholarship can be given to full-time Master’s students in research degree programs, and those pursuing a doctorate.

Students must demonstrate high academic standing and request financial support upon application to be eligible. They must also be open to various funding sources (ie, teaching assistant jobs) which might require more hours in school. While the minimum funding amount starts at $18,000, this amount can still increase depending on the program of study.

2. Principal’s International Doctoral Award

  • Scholarship Amount: $7,000 per year, up to 4 years
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students enrolled in a doctoral program of non-STEM courses
  • Degree Offered: Ph.D.

In the interest of encouraging the global exchange of talent and knowledge in non-STEM courses, the Principal’s International Doctoral Award can be applied for by doctoral students in select courses alongside their application to Queen’s University.

This scholarship at Queen’s University is valued at $7,000 per year and can be renewed three more times during a student’s stay in the university, provided he shows proof of continued international student status and timely completion of his doctoral degree. Note that this award cannot be used alongside major external awards, and receive limited teaching apprenticeship hours to ensure they remain committed to their studies.

3. The E. G. Bauman Fellowship

  • Scholarship Amount: $15,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: doctoral students enrolled in a first or second-year program of select Queen’s university departments
  • Degree Offered: Ph.D.

The E.G. Bauma Fellowship is one of the many merit fellowships offered by Queen’s University through the support of generous benefactors. Eligible doctoral students are those in their first or second year of Biology, Economics, English, Mathematics and Statistics, and Biochemistry and Cell Biology graduate programs. Assessment is based on academic excellence. The scholarship value of $15,000 may be received for two years during their stay at Queen’s University. Students do not initiate applications for this scholarship. Instead, each department annually nominates candidates to the Fellowship Committee of the School of Graduate Studies for final assessment.
