Undergraduate Scholarships at Northumbria University

1. Northumbria Undergraduate Global Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: 3,000 GBP.
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students accepted by the university for the upcoming academic year.

Northumbria University’s Undergraduate Global Scholarship incentivizes eligible international students with a tuition discount on their first year of study. All international students accepted by the university for the upcoming academic year are eligible for the scholarship. No additional application is needed to apply. Accepted students will receive a tuition discount of 3,000 GBP in their first year of study.

Note that students applying for foundational courses are not eligible for this scholarship. The scholarship may not be used in conjunction with any other scholarship.

2. GEMS Northumbria Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: 8,500 GBP fee discount.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Self-funding international students that have graduated from GEMS high schools; Direct application to the university.

The GEMS Northumbria Scholarship aims to incentivize incoming undergraduate students coming from GEMS Schools worldwide. All international students who have graduated from GEMS schools and are self-funding their education are eligible. No additional application is needed to apply, however, students must apply directly to the university to be considered.

Accepted students will receive 8,500 GBP in scholarships disbursed across three years. Students will receive a 4,500 GBP fee discount in their first year, and a 2,000 GBP fee discount per year for their second and third years of study.

Note that students applying for foundations courses are not eligible for this scholarship. The GEMS scholarship may not be used in conjunction with the Northumbria Global Scholarship.

3. RaiseMe Micro-Scholarship Program

  • Scholarship Amount: up to 2,000 USD
  • Eligibility Criteria: US students enrolling in the university.

The RaiseMe Micro-Scholarship Program is a partnership between Northumbria University and CampusLogic, a company committed to making scholarships accessible for students possessing academic or non-academic achievements. The university is proud to be the first and only university in the UK with such a partnership.

High school students in the US are eligible to apply for this Northumbria University scholarship. They must build a profile on the RaiseMe website and indicate their achievements to assess the micro-scholarships they can avail. Students may receive up to 2,000 USD in scholarships which will be applied as a tuition discount in the first year. This scholarship can be used in conjunction with other international scholarships offered by the university.

Postgraduate Scholarships at Northumbria University

1. Northumbria University Alumni Discount

  • Scholarship Amount: 20% tuition waiver.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Students holding an undergraduate or graduate degree from the university; accepted into postgraduate studies in the university.
  • Degree Offered: Master’s, Ph.D.

The Northumbria University Alumni Discount rewards alumni who choose Northumbria University to pursue their postgraduate studies. To apply, students must show proof of degree under Northumbria University upon acceptance into the postgraduate program. Students who studied in the university under Study Abroad or Exchange programs, Distance Learning, and those under a Transnational Education partnership will be considered.

Eligible students will receive a 20% tuition discount which can be applied to most postgraduate courses, whether full or part-time. However, only the tuition fee will be discounted – exam fees and other miscellaneous fees do not apply. The scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship but may be used alongside loans taken to support the study.

2. Northumbria Postgraduate Global Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: 2,000 GBP.
  • Eligibility Criteria: All international new students who have been accepted in a postgraduate course in the university; Self-funding status.

Northumbria University’s Postgraduate Global Scholarship rewards new students who choose to pursue their postgraduate studies at Northumbria University. All international new students who have been accepted in a postgraduate course in the university and are self-funding their education are eligible. No additional application is needed to apply. Accepted students will receive a yearly 2,000 GBP tuition fee discount. Note that the scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship.

Eligibility exceptions apply for those studying for the LPC, LPC Dip, Bar, Bar LLM course or a GDL qualification, or those studying on an Advanced Practice Masters course or Study Abroad program. Students taking an Integrated Masters course are not eligible for the scholarship in their final year.

3. Chevening Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: Varies.
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students from select countries; with an upper second-class honors degree in the UK or equivalent; with minimum English language requirement; with two years work experience.

The Chevening Scholarship is a global scholarship program sponsored by the UK government and partner organizations. This scholarship available at Northumbria University is aimed towards providing high-performing students with the means to effect significant change in their home countries by funding their one-year Master’s degrees.

Applicants must be international students from Chevening-eligible countries who will return to their home countries after study. They must show proof of an upper second-class honors degree in the UK or equivalent, pass the Chevening minimum English language requirement, and have two years of work experience before applying.

Applications will be submitted here. Those accepted by the organization will receive scholarships covering up to 100% of tuition fees, living allowance, and a round trip flight to and from the students’ country of origin.
