Undergraduate Scholarships at the National University of Singapore

1. ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship (AUS)

  • Scholarship Amount: full tuition fees and S$5,800 annual living allowance
  • Eligibility Criteria: hold citizenship in an ASEAN country and demonstrate strong academic capabilities

The NUS is looking for outstanding students from an ASEAN* country to offer this scholarship to. Successful candidates will display strong leadership qualities, evidence of co-curricular activities, and outstanding high school results. So, if you were top of your class at high school, this may be the scholarship for you!

Candidates do not need to apply for this National University of Singapore scholarship. If you are eligible, then your university admission application will be reviewed, and you will be contacted for a scholarship interview. Before the interview, you will then have to put together an application that includes a 500-word personal statement and outlines your achievements.

* ASEAN member countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam

2. Science and Technology (S&T) Undergraduate Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: tuition fees, S$6,000 annual living allowance, S$200 one time settling-in allowance, accommodation allowance, and airfare
  • Eligibility Criteria: hold citizenship in an Asian country, demonstrate strong academic capabilities, and enrolled in a Science and/or technology course

If you are from an Asian country, had great success in high-school, and want to study Science and/or Technology, then you may qualify for this scholarship at the National University of Singapore. Your eligibility will be considered during the admission process and shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview, so no need to apply.

3. The Evolve Warrior Scholarship

Evolve Mixed Martial Arts have established this scholarship to help allow students to ‘unleash their greatness’. The company is Asia’s premier championship brand for martial arts, and they aim to deliver the best martial arts instruction anywhere in the world.

They are offering one scholarship of S$1,000 to a student from any nationality. All they are looking for is outstanding attributes. Evolve is examining your future potential and passion as applicants are asked, ‘where do you hope to be in 5 years?’ and ‘what is the hardest decision you have had to make?’ amongst others. Postgraduate Scholarships at the National University of Singapore

1. Commonwealth Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: tuition fees, a monthly stipend of S$2,200 for Ph.D. candidates and S$1,900 for master’s candidates.
  • Eligibility Criteria: hold citizenship in a commonwealth country, graduated with at least Second-Class Honours (Upper Division) / Honours (Distinction) or equivalent, and have been admitted onto a full-time higher degree at NUS
  • Degree Offered: Master’s and PhD

As well as full tuition fees being covered, this National University of Singapore scholarship offers S$2,200 per month to students from all Commonwealth countries. What’s more, if you pass the Ph.D. qualifying examination, you could get an extra S$500 per month. The finances awarded in this scholarship will continue to be renewed each semester if you can exhibit satisfactory academic progress.

If you want to apply, ensure you express your interest in this scholarship during the admission application process. Your eligibility will then be reviewed by the board.

2. President’s Graduate Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: tuition fees, a monthly stipend of S$3,100, one-off air travel allowance, a one-off settling-in allowance of S$1,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: top performance in undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, strong research potential, and strong ethical character
  • Degree Offered: Ph.D.

This scholarship is targeted at Ph.D. students only and offers the chance to live and study for free for the duration of the course. If you have an exemplary academic record and performed top of your undergraduate or postgraduate class, then consider applying for this scholarship. The school gives preference to students who exhibit excellent leadership qualities and a commitment to community service. So, think about what you could do to improve your local community before applying.

3. Tuition Fee Allowance

  • Scholarship Amount: Full tuition fees
  • Eligibility Criteria: graduated with at least Second-Class Honours (Upper Division) / Honours (Distinction) or equivalent and have been admitted onto a full-time higher degree at NUS
  • Degree Offered: master’s degree and Ph.D.

This scholarship ensures that your tuition fees will be paid in full, you just need to ensure you can afford living expenses. Any student enrolling in a master’s course or a Ph.D. course is eligible for this scholarship at the National University of Singapore. You just need to ensure you express your interest in your admission application. The university is looking to award this tuition waiver to outstanding students.
