National Tsing Hua University is a Taiwanese research university with a heart for nation-building. 1. National Tsing Hua University Scholarship for International Students

  • Scholarship Amount: 5,000-40,000 NTD per month
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students enrolled in the university within the standard period of study.

The National Tsing Hua University Scholarship for International Students is the only scholarship program offered by the university that is open to all international students enrolled within the standard period of study. The scholarship can be availed of by students of all degrees, with priority for Master’s and Doctoral students. For new entrants to the university, applications are done online within the general enrollment form, with students indicating their intention to apply for the scholarship to be considered. Current students must prepare an application form with two letters of recommendation, an academic plan, and proof of academic performance.

Undergraduate and Master’s students stand to receive 5,000 NTD per month, while Doctoral students can avail of 20,000 to 40,000 NTD per month. There are two types of scholarships – type A scholarships cover tuition and miscellaneous fees, while type B scholarships cover miscellaneous and credit fees only. However, both packages exclude health insurance, accommodation fees, and others.

This National Tsing Hua University scholarship is granted annually and lasts for only one year, but students who have availed of this scholarship are welcome to re-apply for the next academic year, provided that they have not received any other scholarship grant.

2. MOE Taiwan Scholarship Program

  • Scholarship Amount: 15,000-40,000 NTD per month
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students with an application to the university. Average GPA of 3.0 (undergraduate) or 3.5 (Master’s).

The Ministry of Education (MOE) Taiwan Scholarship Program was created by the government to encourage international students of degrees of study to take up higher education in Taiwan for the betterment of the international community. The scholarship is good for four years for undergraduate and doctoral students and two years for master’s students, with a maximum stay of five years. International students with an application to the university possessing an average GPA of 3.0 (undergraduate) or 3.5 (Master’s) or equivalent are welcome to apply.

Students must submit an application form, a copy of their passport and academic awards, proof of application to National Tsing Hua University, and proof of language proficiency depending on the language of instruction to be used during the study. These are to be submitted to the local Taiwan Representative Office in their country of origin.

Applications will be assessed based on the candidates’ potential to both his home country and to Taiwan. Shortlisted applicants will be subjected to a round of video interviews. The final list of accepted students will receive a subsidy of 40,000 NTD per semester for tuition and miscellaneous fees. An additional monthly stipend of 15,000 NTD is granted to master’s degree students, while doctoral students will receive an additional 20,000 NTD monthly.

 

3. Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Foundation Scholarship (ICDF)

  • Scholarship Amount: 12,000-17,000 NTD per month
  • Eligibility Criteria: International students enrolled in the university with no other scholarships availed of; Resident of select countries.

The Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Foundation Scholarship is another scholarship available at the National Tsing Hua University. It is sponsored by the IDCF, which has always prioritized international education and training. The scholarship is offered to international students of select countries enrolled in the university. Students also must not have any other scholarship in conjunction with this one.

Students must submit an application form, a copy of their passport and academic awards, two recommendation letters, and proof of English language proficiency. Applications will be assessed by ICDF representatives in collaboration with a committee from the university being applied to.

Accepted Undergraduate scholars will receive a subsidy of 12,000 NTD per month, while Master’s and Doctoral students will receive 15,000 NTD and 17,000 NTD per month respectively. Scholars will also receive free round trip tickets to and from Taiwan, waived miscellaneous school fees, and free health insurance.
