The New Zealand Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), funded a scholarship grant to subsidize higher education studies of international students with remarkable academic performance to aid in the development of their home countries. Quite a number of universities in New Zealand offer this scholarship and Massey University is one of them.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be bachelor’s degree offer holders to any of the undergraduate programs offered by Massey University. Applicants with commendable academic performance in their secondary studies and experience in the field of study through volunteering work and other immersion activities are given merit in the selection process.

Before submitting requirements, interested applicants are encouraged to complete an online questionnaire to verify their eligibility for the scholarship further. The next Massey University scholarship we will talk about is the Massey University Creative Arts International Excellence Scholarships. It intends to attract creative students with solid academic profiles from all countries across the globe and is offered by the Massey University College of Creative Arts. It aims to provide financial support to all qualified students. As an entrance scholarship program, all incoming international students with an admission offer to any undergraduate programs in the College of Creative Arts may apply.

Massey University’s well-renowned School of Food and Advanced Technology aims to attract more international students with a demonstrated interest in the science of Food Technology and related studies through the offering of the School of Food and Advanced Technology First Year Undergraduate Scholarship. Massey University awards this scholarship annually to ten students needing financial assistance to support their studies.

Interested applicants must be an offer holder to any undergraduate programs offered by the School of Food and Advanced Technology and are set to enroll in credit hour units with a minimum of 105. Aside from this, students with engagement in science, engineering, or food technology are given merit to their applications. Other factors to consider include academic performance, leadership potential, and good character.

Applications are screened by the Head of the School of Food & Advanced Technology of the Massey University – College of Sciences, based on academic merit, leadership potential, extracurricular engagement, and community involvement. Ten successful applications will be selected to receive a tuition fee waiver amounting to $3,000 for one year.

Postgraduate Scholarships at Massey University

1. Massey University Doctoral Scholarship

Aiming to attract research-minded doctoral international students to encourage doctoral research of strategic relevance, Massey University offers this scholarship to full-time or part-time candidates for selected postgraduate degrees. These degrees include Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Clinical Psychology, or Doctor of Social Work degrees.

Interested applicants must be full-time or part-time candidates for the mentioned doctoral degrees with a grade average of A- or 7.0 on a nine-point scale. Applicants must also demonstrate a research study coinciding with Massey University’s strategic research theme priorities. Applications can be submitted through the scholarships tab of Massey University Student Portal, containing the necessary documents needed for submission.

College-based selection committees will screen the documents submitted by applicants. This committee will evaluate, rank, and recommend candidates to the University Scholarships Committee for the scholarship award. Successful applicants will enjoy a stipend of $25,000 per year, a full tuition fee waiver, as well as a full non-tuition fee waiver for 36 – 60 months, depending on the duration of their program.
