The University of León is a public university in Spain. It has two campuses, one in León and one in Ponferrada. It was founded in 1843 as the Normal School for Teachers and the Subaltern School of Veterinary Medicine, and it became the University of Leon in 1979 after the University of Oviedo was divided into several schools. At the university, there are eight faculties and six schools offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs.
