The University of Finance North Rhine-Westphalia was established in 1958 as a state university of applied sciences in public administration. It was formerly known as the Finance Academy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, which later became a university of applied sciences. The university trains future tax administration professionals and offers dual study in partnership with the University of Applied Sciences for Finance Nordkirchen. It also allows its students to apply their professional skills at the tax offices within the state.
