Muhlenberg College was named after the first president’s grandfather, Henry Melchior Muhlenburg, who was also the founder of the Lutheran Church in America. In the 1950s, together with the construction of the residence hall and extension school, women were first admitted as full-time students. After becoming the first liberal arts school to receive a Hillel accreditation and foundation status in 1996, the college continued to strive for excellence and has successfully launched the Mullenburg Network, connecting students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff.
