Established in 1958 through a Decree of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR, Kamchatka State University was first founded as the Kamchatka State Pedagogical Institute. It remains to have three faculties since its founding but has expanded the departments in each. These departments handle different fields of study such as Russian Philology, History, and Philosophy. 5 Bachelor’s and 4 Master’s degree programs are offered at the university. Aside from these, Secondary Vocational Education is also available.
