It was established in 2005 after the Dourados campus, which had previously been a component of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, was freed. The college initially only offered seven undergraduate courses, but after being accepted into the Program for Restructuring and Expansion of Federal Universities, it started to grow significantly.
