Higher School of Economics Scholarships for International Students

Russia’s Higher School of Economics (HSE) University is more than just economics – it holds 20th-century ideals of modernization and globalization at its core. Here, we will be looking at several Higher School of Economics scholarships available for international students.

A product of modernization in itself, this state university was the result of an overhaul of Russia’s educational system as the current economic system failed to address the political and economic state of the country. Created by a team of renowned economics educators, HSE University infuses economics in all its courses, recognizing that for one’s work to be applied in society, it needs to be analyzed, forecasted, modeled, and processed. Today, HSE University is one of the top universities in Russia, featuring a comprehensive roster of interdisciplinary courses from secondary school to doctoral courses.

The university is a consistent leader in Russian research and education, taking pride in its strong research fundamentals. HSE believes that research is more than just head knowledge – discoveries must apply to real-life situations. This principle is applied in the university’s two research thrusts. Basic research is the area of HSE research that targets the social and natural sciences to solve problems, while applied research entails the threefold partnership of business, academia, and society. As a testament to HSE’s caliber of modern research, the university commercializes its research technologies for public use – from state-commissioned analyses for policy creation to innovations mapping for state-owned or private businesses – all with the goal of nation-building. HSE is now one of the biggest and most well-connected social science research centers in the country.

HSE makes itself known on a world stage as well. The university is proud to be part of the 5-100 Russian Academic Excellence Project since 2013, a highly selective government program aiming to improve the international competitiveness of Russian universities. With more than 4,400 international students, more than 500 courses in English, and over 400 academic partnerships worldwide, it is clear that the university has worked hard to be an expert in globalization.

And the rankings speak for themselves. HSE University has consistently been a top Russian university for four years and counting. In both the Times Higher Education and QS Rankings, the university performs exceptionally well in Law and Social Sciences, landing a spot among the top 100 universities worldwide.

For a modern and global worldview, HSE university is the place to be. Check out their list of scholarships below:
