The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, otherwise known by the locals as HUJI, is a public research university that can be found in Jerusalem, Israel. It was established in 1918, making it Israel’s second-oldest university. Undergraduate Scholarships at Hebrew University of Jerusalem

1. Schulich Leaders Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: Full tuition fees and an annual grant
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. Only applicants who have received admission into the Hebrew University of Jerusalem under a STEM Bachelor’s Degree will be considered eligible. The student must also be beginning their first year of study. Lastly, they must meet a minimum grade requirement to be awarded this scholarship.

This is a highly competitive scholarship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with only 10 scholarships to be awarded every year. Applicants with the highest credentials will be favored.

All scholarships must be submitted before June 15th. The applicant will be required to submit an online application form through the scholarship website and must state in their university application that they are a Schulich Leader Scholarship candidate.

2. Heseg Foundation Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: Full tuition fees
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals that have volunteered in the Isreal Defense Forces. Only released lone soldiers will be eligible to apply. The applicant must have also already received an offer of admission into the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

This scholarship will cover full tuition fees and the student’s living expenses.

It is only open for those that have been granted the ‘lone soldier’ status from the Isreal Defense Forces. The lone soldier status must have been active for at least half of the applicant’s military service. The applicant must have also served a proper and significant military service, with it being at least 24 months for males and at least 12 months for females.

The registration and application period will end on July 1st. The applicant will be required to include a copy of their release certificate, their lone soldier certificate, along their confirmed enrollment at the university. Incomplete application forms will not be processed. Those who have previously applied for this scholarship and were rejected may not apply again.

3. Moshal Scholarship Program

  • Scholarship Amount: Full tuition fees
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. The applicant must have already received an offer of admission into a select range of Bachelor’s programs at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The applicants must also be of the highest caliber in academics and are able to provide proof of financial need.

In order to maintain this Hebrew University of Jerusalem scholarship, the recipient must always strive to achieve the highest possible grades. They must also actively participate in the Moshal Community and attend various training courses and annual events. Recipients of this scholarship must also pledge to help others in the future, to keep the culture of the program alive.

This is also a personalized scholarship with the selection committee taking into account the applicant’s current situation and background.

Postgraduate Scholarships at Hebrew University of Jerusalem

1. Azrieli Graduate Studies Fellowship

  • Scholarship Amount: ILS 122,000 up to ILS 128,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. Applicants must have received an offer of admission into a Master’s program from the selected eligible fields. They must also possess records of previous outstanding academic performance and personal achievements. Applicants must also initially be nominated by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem before applying.

This Hebrew University of Jerusalem scholarship is highly competitive, and the selection committee will be taking into account the student’s previous academic and extracurricular achievements. The applicant’s future potential to be among the top of their field will also be considered.

Since the awardees are to be held to an extremely high standard, their progress will consistently be monitored by progress reports to be submitted on a regular basis.

The grant will be divided into monthly payments, and there will also be an additional grant for the student’s research expenses.

2. Azrieli International Postdoctoral Fellowships

  • Scholarship Amount: 75% of research expenses
  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. The applicant must have received their Ph.D. from an eligible country from the EU, UK, US, or Canada. The applicant must also have an academic sponsor that is part of the faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The applicants must also be academically excellent and are able to provide their plans for their proposed research.

The applicant’s leadership and versatility will also be considered along with the criteria as mentioned above. The academic sponsor of the applicant must also be willing to finance 25% of the student’s research expenses.

During the selection process, the applicant will undergo 3 stages. They will have to undergo a preselection screening, an academic review by the committee, and, lastly, an interview panel.

Awarded applicants will be expected to engage with the local academic community. They will also be required to participate in the Azrieli Fellowship’s activities and events. These events are meant to promote the leadership and teamwork skills of the awardee.
