Postgraduate Scholarships at Dublin City University

1. DCU Non-EU Study Abroad/Exchange Returning Masters Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: up to 2,000 euros
  • Eligibility Criteria: a full-time non-EU student who previously participated in a study abroad or exchange student program of Dublin City University

Students who have participated in a Dublin City University Study Abroad or Exchange Student program during their undergraduate years may return to the university for their master’s education and be automatically considered for a scholarship! This Dublin City University scholarship is only applicable for the first year of their master’s program. Full scholars are also expected to complete an ambassador commitment during the scholarship duration.

2. DCU Continuing Student – Masters Programmes

International students who completed their undergraduate studies in the university may proceed for master’s education after graduation. If they do so, they will be eligible for a change in their fees – from non-EU fees to EU fees. This is applicable for One Year Taught Masters Programs only. 3. George J. Mitchell Scholarship Program

George J. Mitchell, a former Senator of the United States, contributed to the peace in Northern Ireland. To honor his legacy, this scholarship was established by the Dublin City University in his name. It aims to expose young Americans to Ireland while also developing leadership knowledge.

Every year, twelve students are chosen to be scholars. They may pursue any postgraduate study. Applicants will be evaluated based on scholarship, leadership, and commitment to community and public service. Necessary documents include a photo, personal statement, and signature scan. You may also be asked to send recommendation or endorsement letters, and these will be submitted online. A video interview will also be conducted. 4. Naughton Fellowships Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: full tuition waiver, $20,000 for living expenses
  • Eligibility Criteria: University of Notre Dame senior undergraduate

The University of Notre Dame senior undergraduate students may apply for the Naughton Fellowships to pursue master’s studies at Dublin City University. They will have to apply for the university and the fellowship separately.

For the fellowship application, they will have to indicate their details, academic background, program choice at Dublin City University, and personal statement. They will also have to provide contact information for their reference. Evaluation is based on applicants’ interest and knowledge of their chosen study area and their potential to become cultural ambassadors.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships at Dublin City University

1. DCU International Merit Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: up to 2,000 euros tuition fee reduction for the first year
  • Eligibility Criteria: self-funded, full-time, non-EU students

The International Merit Scholarships funded by the Dublin City University International Office are intended for students outside the European Union. These are granted to encourage exceptional students to pursue their studies in the university by reducing their tuition costs. All international student applicants are automatically considered for the scholarship.

Scholars must not be recipients of other scholarships, and they must be studying in the university for the first time. Full scholars will have to complete at least one ambassador commitment.

2. Government of Ireland – International Education Scholarships

  • Scholarship Amount: 10,000 euros stipend for one year; full tuition fees and registration costs waiver
  • Eligibility Criteria: non-EU/EEA citizen
  • Degree Offered: Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD

The Irish Government, through its Higher Education Authority, awards scholarships for international students. This is an effort to promote the internationalization of Irish education. Interested applicants from non-EU/EEA countries may pursue any field of study.

The scholarship benefits are for one year only; for undergraduate students, it is only applicable for their final year, while postgraduate students may use it for any year. This Dublin City University scholarship will be granted in two installments of 5,000 euros. Application is done online through this portal, and applicants must also have an offer letter from the university.

3. Dublin City University Taught Masters Program

  • Scholarship Amount: tuition fees waiver, maximum grant of 16,500 euros
  • Eligibility Criteria: U.S. citizen and has secured admission for a Taught Masters at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and Computing, or the Business School

Americans may apply for a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue a taught master’s program at Dublin City University. This program further develops the scholar’s knowledge from previous academic work and guides them in their future academic endeavors. The scholarship is applicable for ten months only.
