Postgraduate Scholarships at the Chalmers University of Technology
1. Avancez Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: 75% tuition fee reduction, possible increase to 85% after one year

The Avancez Scholarship is funded by the Chalmers University of Technology. It is awarded to deserving international students from countries outside the EU. The term ‘avancez’ means ‘move forward’ in French, and was the motto of the university’s founder, William Chalmers.
The Avancez Scholarship is awarded based on the applicant’s academic merit. This will include not only your grades but also the reputations of your previous universities. Thus, those who come from prestigious universities back in their home countries will be more likely to receive this scholarship.
Only those applying for master’s degree programs are eligible for this scholarship available at the Chalmers University of Technology. The number of scholarships to be awarded per department and in total will be determined by the University President every year. The available courses may also change—make sure to check back every year to see if your desired course is one of them.
You may apply for the Avancez Scholarship as soon as you have submitted all of your admission documents and paid the application fee. You will be receiving an application number that you’ll need to put in your scholarship form. Scholarships generally open in November and end at the beginning of February, so you’ll have plenty of time to prepare. You should be expecting a response from the scholarships team between March and May. The university recommends submitting your application as early as possible to expedite the application process. 2. Adlerbert Study Scholarships
- Scholarship Amount: fully-waived tuition fees
- Eligibility Criteria
- must be an incoming master’s student at the Chalmers University of Technology
- must be domiciled in any eligible country

The Adlerbert Study Scholarships were established by the Adlerbert Foundation in 1945. According to the organization’s official website, the founder, Axel Adler, wanted to “facilitate the pursuit of higher education at centers of learning” in Sweden. The organization has since provided scholarships for hundreds of students from all over the world.
The Adlerbert Study Scholarships, in particular, are catered towards students from developing countries. This Chalmers University of Technology scholarship offers them a chance to study at this institution at no cost at all. Five scholarships in total will be awarded, and the awardees will be chosen by the scholarships team at the Chalmers University of Technology.

The scholarships team will be taking a look at your form and using your submitted documents to support your application. Thus, you must submit every document you can provide to increase your chances of getting the scholarship. According to a former scholarship recipient, you should be very serious about writing the perfect letter of intent and maybe even submitting more than one reference letter. 3. The Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarship for Global Professionals
- Scholarship Amount: fully-waived tuition fees, monthly allowance, medical insurance, a travel grant of SEK 10000-15000, SI Network for Future Global Leaders membership
- Eligibility Criteria
- must be a citizen of any eligible country
- must be taking any eligible master’s program at the Chalmers University of Technology
- must have at least 3000 hours of work experience and displays leadership skills

The Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarship for Global Professionals is a scholarship offered by the Swedish government. It is funded by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and is for international students taking master’s degrees in Sweden. It aims to provide high-quality education to students from developing countries. Many of the eligible courses are related to sustainable development, and the organization hopes that it can contribute to a better quality of life in their home countries. Additionally, the Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarship hopes to foster long-lasting relations between Sweden and the rest of the world.
The ideal candidate is someone passionate about bringing change to their home countries. They must be studying a course that is related to either development studies, environmental conservation, or sustainable economic growth. They must have a clear career path and should explain how a master’s degree in Sweden will help them along the way. Furthermore, they must have the relevant skills and work experiences to back their statements up.

Required documents include your curriculum vitae, reference letters, proof of work experience and leadership skills, a copy of your passport’s biometric page, and a letter of motivation. You must use the templates provided—failure to do so will have your application disqualified. The same goes for if you submit incomplete requirements or use any other language besides English.
