1. Louvain Incentive scholarships

The Louvain Incentive Scholarships are intended to encourage international students from partner universities to participate in an exchange program with UCLouvain School of Engineering that may last for one semester or a full academic year. Four awards are granted every year; thus, four exchange students get to be scholars annually.

To apply for this Catholic University of Louvain scholarship, interested applicants must submit a confirmation from their home university that they are participants of the program, an updated resumé, and a cover letter. However, one must be an exchange student first to be qualified. 2. UCLouvain Financial Aid

The UCLouvain Financial Aid is granted by the UCL Student Support Service to help students afford the university expenses. This scholarship available at the Catholic University of Louvain is intended for only one student every year who was successful in applying for an undergraduate degree in UCLouvain. The offer covers university fees but may be extended to additional costs, such as accommodation or travel. UWC will advise students on the application process for this scholarship.

Postgraduate Scholarships at Université Catholique de Louvain

1. International Lhoist Berghmans Master Scholarship

The International Lhoist Berghmans Master Scholarship encourages international students to read their Master’s in Engineering at UCLouvain. This Catholic University of Louvain scholarship is open for those intending to pursue a Master’s in engineering, specifically Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical and Physical Engineering. It is also open for those interested in a Master’s in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.

Students must have a background in mathematics, chemistry, and physics. Interested applicants may submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, copy of Bachelor’s Degree, transcripts, proof of English proficiency, and letter of recommendation from a professor. The scholarship amount is the total amount for the two years of the Master’s program. It will cover 5,000 euros per year plus room accommodation in UC Louvain.

2. ARES Master’s Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: international travel costs; living allowance of 1,150 euros for 12 months; indirect mission fees of 150 euros, arrival allowance; arrival allowance, tuition, and return fees worth 700 euros; registration and insurance fees; travel costs part of inter-university training

The Academie De Recherche Et D’Enseignement Superieur (ARES) Master’s scholarship aims to encourage students from developing countries to pursue a Master’s program in Belgium. Around 150 scholarships are awarded every year. Application for this scholarship is free, and interested students may utilize the GIRAF platform for the application process.

Eligible countries are Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Haiti, Madagascar, Morocco, Niger, Pero, Philippines, DR Congo, Rwanda, Senegal or Vietnam

3. South Partnership – PhD Scholarship

  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • National of any of the qualified countries
    • Supported by at least one (1) academic staff member of UC Louvain
    • Granted admission by the Doctoral Domain Commission of the applicant’s research field in UC Louvain

The South Partnership – PhD scholarship is granted through a competition organized by UCLouvain to encourage students from developing countries to pursue their PhD programs in the university. This initiative hopes to expand academic networks and forge partnerships with institutions in the scholars’ home countries. Students must also not be committed to returning to the country and are not recipients of any scholarship to be qualified for this Catholic University of Louvain scholarship.

To apply, students must submit an application form for this offer and apply for admission to the Doctoral Commission of the field at UCLouvain. Their thesis project must be accepted by the Doctoral Commission, and such acceptance shall be attached to the application. Students will be assessed based on research dimension (academic quality, quality of research project, quality of environment) and cooperation for development dimension (they must partner with a Southern institution, and their projects must be globally relevant). Accepted students will receive monthly payments for a maximum of 36 months. They may also be granted funds for travel, should it be necessary.
