Anglia Ruskin University, shorthandedly known as ARU, dates back to 1858. It was initially founded as the Cambridge School of Art by John Ruskin until the art school partnered with different colleges and grew to have a university status in 1992. ARU has four campuses in the United Kingdom and a number of partner institutions worldwide that offer ARU-certified courses. Undergraduate Scholarships at Anglia Ruskin University

1. International Merit Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: GBP 1,000 or GBP 2,000

    • International undergraduate, Master’s, or research students
    • Studying at Cambridge or Chelmsford campus

The International Merit Scholarship is an Anglia Ruskin University scholarship that is awarded to academically performing undergraduate, Master’s, or research students who are keen to study in ARU’s Cambridge or Chelmsford campus. To be eligible, the student must have obtained the grade requirement and must be enrolled full-time in the university.

Applications are not needed as eligible candidates are automatically granted the scholarship. For undergraduate and Master’s students, the scholarship is awarded on the first year of study. For researchers, the scholarship is awarded each year for up to three years. The scholarship amount depends on the candidate’s level of study and grades. The award will be given in the form of a tuition fee discount.

2. International Excellence Scholarship

    • International undergraduate or postgraduate students
    • Studying at Cambridge or Chelmsford campus

The International Excellence Scholarship is awarded to international students who not only demonstrate academic excellence but are also actively involved in extra-curricular activities. Undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in Cambridge or Chelmsford campuses are eligible to apply. To qualify for the scholarship, the student must also meet the grade requirement and be able to present proof of involvement in different campus activities.

To apply for this Anglia Ruskin University scholarship, an application form must be accomplished and must include a 500-word answer as to why you must be selected for the scholarship. The chosen awardees will receive a tuition fee discount of GBP 4,000 on their first year of studies.

3. International Early Payment Discount

  • Eligibility Criteria: International undergraduate or postgraduate students

Anglia Ruskin University awards their early payers with a discount on their tuition fees. This is available to all full-time undergraduate and postgraduate international students. A discount of GBP 1,000 is provided for those in their first year of studies, then GBP 400 is granted in the succeeding academic years for up to three years. There is no application process. The discount is automatically deducted if the enrollee pays their tuition within the deadline.

Postgraduate Scholarships at Anglia Ruskin University

1. International Alumni Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: GBP 3,000
  • Eligibility Criteria: International undergraduate alumni

The International Alumni Scholarship is open to all international students who hold an undergraduate degree from ARU and are interested in continuing their postgraduate studies in the university. This Anglia Ruskin University scholarship value is GBP 3,000 which will automatically be granted as a tuition fee deduction to eligible students. There is no time limit to this scholarship– candidates may apply anytime regardless of when they completed their last studies in ARU.

2. MBA Scholarship

    • One-year MBA: GBP 4,000
    • Two-year MBA: GBP 2,000 or GBP 4,000

The MBA scholarship is a generous scholarship opportunity that provides a monetary award as well as a possibility for work placement. Interested candidates must be enrolled full-time in a one or two-year MBA program at Anglia Ruskin University. One-year MBA students can receive a GBP 4,000 tuition fee reduction if accepted. For two-year MBA enrollees, GBP 2,000 is awarded plus an option for work placement. If the student is not able to secure a work placement, they will instead receive GBP 4,000. This Anglia Ruskin University scholarship is automatically awarded to all eligible candidates– no applications are needed.

3. Sport Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: GBP 1,400 to GBP 12,500
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • UK, EU, or international student-athletes
    • Must be competing at a national, regional, or international level
    • Studying at Cambridge, Chelmsford, or Peterborough Guild House campus

ARU established its Sport Scholarship to support its student-athletes who compete professionally in basketball or volleyball. The scholarship is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students, regardless of nationality. There are two types of the Sport Scholarship– the Elite and Podium levels. The Elite level is for students who compete on a regional or national level. They will receive a scholarship of GBP 1,400 annually. The Podium level is for those of international standard– the scholarship can amount to up to GBP 12,500.

Aside from the financial support, this scholarship available at Anglia Ruskin University also includes other benefits such as free access to the campus fitness centers, workshops, travel, and accommodation for competitions. The scholarship is conditional and will be renewed in the following academic year upon satisfactory academic performance. In special cases, other sports are also considered if the applicant is competing at the highest level.

Applications can be submitted all year round and must include the candidate’s supporting statement and proof of credentials. The assessment process may also require additional documentation and an interview.
