University of Victoria Scholarships for International Students

The University of Victoria is a public research university located in the beautiful province of British Columbia, Canada. It is the oldest secondary education institute in British Columbia. Because of its old age, it has produced many notable alumni throughout the years. The University of Victoria provides many scholarships and opportunities for international students to study at the university.

The university has many undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to choose from. That, paired with the high volume of applicants every year, means that the admission process is highly selective, and they only select the brightest students for admission. It is one of the most applied to institutions in all of Canada.

The university also features many partner research institutes and universities all over the world to provide its students with more opportunities to learn. The university is also ranked among the top 20 universities in Canada.

Undergraduate Scholarships at University of Victoria

1. International Entrance Scholarships

• Scholarship Amount: $10,000
• Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. The applicant must first receive admission into the university before being considered for this award. The applicant must possess outstanding academic records from their previous foreign educational institute.

There will be no separate application for this University of Victoria scholarship. Shortlisted applicants will immediately be informed of their eligibility after they submit their complete admission documents.

All the required documents for enrollment must be submitted before March 15th.

2. Aga Khan Academy Renewable Scholarship

• Scholarship Amount: $90,000
• Eligibility Criteria: Open to all international students that come directly from an Aga Khan Academy. The applicant must have received admission into the University of Victoria, is currently entering their first year as an undergraduate student, possesses excellent academic records, and is able to meet the university’s English language proficiency requirements. Lastly, the student must have been nominated by their previous school counselor, principal, or department head from their time at Aga Khan Academy.

This scholarship is payable over 4 years and is valid for renewal until the completion of the student’s course of study.

This is a competitive University of Victoria scholarship, and the student’s academic records and achievements, extracurricular involvement, and financial need will all be considered during the selection process.

All the required documentation must be submitted through the online application portal before March 15th. The application portal will be open from January 1st till March 15.

3. Vikes International Athlete Award

• Scholarship Amount: $40,000
• Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. The applicant must have received an offer of admission into the University of Victoria. The applicant must then showcase a strong work ethic, commitment, and a strong drive to perform well. They must be outstanding athletes and will compete in the Vikes Varsity Team at the University of Victoria.

This scholarship will be awarded over the course of 4 years or until the student completes their course of study. The award will automatically be renewed each year as long as the student maintains the sports performance requirements and is still studying full-time at the university.

4. East China Normal University Renewable Scholarship

• Scholarship Amount: $20,000
• Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. The applicant must be a student from the No. 2 Secondary School from East China Normal University. The applicant must be considered an academically excellent student and be able to provide proof of outstanding academic records. The applicant must have also been nominated by No. 2 Secondary School attached to East China Normal University to receive this scholarship.

The awarded student will be required to register in a co-op work experience work term in order to qualify for scholarship renewal. The student must also maintain a high GPA in order to stay eligible.

This scholarship will automatically be renewed so long as the requirements are met until the student completes their course of study.

These are some of the scholarships offered at the University of Victoria. The university offers many more scholarships and bursaries aimed toward international students. International students that graduated from a Canadian secondary school are not eligible for any of the scholarships listed above. Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Victoria

1. Nimrod Hungarian Mobility Award

• Scholarship Amount: The amount will be based on the applicant.
• Eligibility Criteria: Open to Hungarian nationals only. The applicant must have received an offer of admission into any full-time Graduate degree in science, medicine, technology, and social science fields at the University of Victoria. The applicants must showcase a strong desire to learn and be able to achieve good academic results. Lastly, the student will be required to provide proof of financial need.

All applications for this University of Victoria scholarship must be completed online and sent via email to the University Student Recruitment and Global Engagement Centre. There will be two application periods every year, on the third Wednesday of March and November.

All applications must be completed in full. Any applications that are incomplete or submitted late will not be considered.
