University of Leeds Scholarships
Undergraduate Scholarships at University of Leeds
1. Leeds International Foundation Year (IFY) Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: £3,000
- Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. Only applicants who are currently enrolled in the Leeds International Foundation year and who have received and accepted an offer of admission into the university are eligible for this scholarship. The applicant must have also achieved and maintained a credit-weighted average of 75% during their foundation year.

This scholarship is only valid for undergraduate programs at the Leeds University Business School. The scholarship grant will only be towards tuition fees from the student’s first year of study.
There will be no separate application process for this University of Leeds scholarship. All eligible candidates will automatically be assessed during the student’s university application process. The student’s scholarship will be confirmed by the university’s Admissions Office.
2. Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences International Excellence Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: Up to £6,000
- Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. Eligible applicants must have received and accepted an offer of admission into any of the Engineering and Physical Sciences undergraduate programs. The student must also showcase good academic performance.

This scholarship has no separate application process. Eligible applicants will automatically be awarded this scholarship upon being granted admission into the program of their choice.
Awarded applicants must maintain a yearly average of above 60%, with all courses passed on their first attempt. If the student fails to meet this requirement, the scholarship will be revoked, but if the student is able to reach the minimum grade again, the scholarship will be regranted.
3. Biological Sciences International Excellence Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: £10,000 tuition fee reduction (Year 1)
- Eligibility Criteria: Must be an international fee-paying student, hold an offer for an undergraduate programme in Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds, achieve one grade (or equivalent) above the published entry requirements or higher, select the University of Leeds as your firm choice.

The Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds offers 10 Biological Sciences International Excellence Scholarships, valued at £10,000 each, available as a tuition fee reduction in the first year of study. These scholarships recognize and support outstanding international undergraduate applicants who excel academically. Interested students should apply by 8 June 2025, even if final results are pending. Successful applicants will receive conditional offers contingent upon meeting the required academic achievement.
4. International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarships
- Scholarship Amount: 25% tuition fee reduction (Year 1)
- Eligibility Criteria: International student for tuition fee purposes, applied for eligible undergraduate programme at the University of Leeds for the 2025/26 academic year, self-funded or partially funded, achieve or on track to achieve one grade (or equivalent) above published entry requirements, provide clear rationale for choosing University of Leeds aligned with future ambitions and goals.

The University of Leeds offers 80 competitive scholarships, each providing a 25% tuition fee reduction for the first year of undergraduate study. These scholarships target high-achieving, deserving international students applying to eligible programmes in areas such as Chemical and Process Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy, among others. Applications must be submitted online by 30 April 2025. Successful candidates will be notified by 30 May 2025, and recipients must select Leeds as their firm choice to confirm their scholarship.

Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Leeds
1. Chevening – University of Leeds Partnership Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: Full Tuition Fees
- Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals, excluding British nationals. Eligible applicants must have already received and accepted an offer of admission to a Master’s course at the university, attained an undergraduate degree, have at least two years of work experience, and showcase strong leadership skills.

This is a competitive scholarship at the University of Leeds, with only 12 awards to be given out every year. The scholarship grant will cover full tuition fees, the student’s airfare, living costs, and an allowance. Shortlisted applicants will be required to undergo an interview at the British Embassy in their country of origin.
All applications must be submitted before November 2nd. Applications must be submitted through the Chevening website.
2. Liberty Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: £5,000
- Eligibility Criteria: Open to all nationals. To be considered an eligible applicant, the applicant must have received and accepted an offer of admission into the University of Leeds School of Law. Applicants must also be able to provide proof of outstanding academic records.

This is a highly competitive scholarship reserved for the top excelling applicants. Only ten scholarships will be granted every year. The student must commence their studies in the same year the scholarship is awarded, or else it will be revoked.
Shortlisted applicants must also accept the scholarship award within two weeks of receiving it. Scholarship offers will be sent out by July 16th.
All applications must be submitted before June 15th. Applications must be submitted to the University of Leeds School of Law Admission Office.
3. Water, Sanitation and Health Engineering Alumni Scholarship (International)
- Scholarship Amount: £53,842 (Full tuition fees of £33,000 and £20,842 maintenance)
- Eligibility Criteria: International student from an ODA-recipient country or territory, unconditional offer for MSc Water Sanitation and Health Engineering programme, demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and relevant experience, provide a clear statement of interest in water, sanitation, and hygiene.

The University of Leeds offers two generous scholarships, each valued at £53,842, funded by former alumni. These scholarships are exclusively available to international applicants who have received an unconditional offer for the MSc Water Sanitation and Health Engineering programme within the School of Civil Engineering. Priority is given to applicants from Least-Developed, Low, or Middle-Income countries and territories according to the DAC list.
