Studying abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Studying outside your home country will undoubtedly provide you with new and enriching experiences both professionally and personally.  This scholarship is our way of supporting students who are studying abroad for a semester or year.

The Scholarship:

We know that studying abroad comes with a cost, so to help students who are planning to study abroad for a year or semester or are currently studying, we want to offer our $1,000 Scholarship to one (1) student. As part of our commitment to helping students, this scholarship aims to assist with the costs of their semester or year of study abroad.

Study Abroad Aide’s $1,000 Study Abroad Scholarship is offered to any eligible student who will be or is currently studying abroad for a year or semester. This scholarship is offered to all postsecondary degree programs, which are diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D, as well as professional programs like law and medicine.

The application will close on December 31st, 2025, 5 finalists will be notified on January 15 – 30th, 2026 and the winner will be announced the winner will be announced on January 31st, 2026. Scholarships will be paid directly to the winner’s institution in the winner’s name.

Eligibility Criteria

You must meet ALL of the following to be eligible:

  • You must be a current student in a postsecondary degree program, which are diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D, as well as professional programs like law and medicine.
  • You must be currently enrolled in or will be enrolled in a college or university-level study program in another country for one semester or year during the regular academic calendar year at the time of the submission. (This could be programs such as exchange programs, visiting programs, research abroad programs, program provider options, internships abroad, and service-learning programs.). So, an applicant could receive the scholarship after they have studied abroad as long as the submission was before or while the applicant studies abroad. If that’s the case, the scholarship will be distributed to the institution, and an applicant can use that scholarship for the next semester.

What we look for in a candidate

We are looking to give this scholarship to a student who shows a clear purpose and excitement for their chosen study abroad program. The ideal candidate should have well-thought-out reasons for wanting to study in their selected country and demonstrate how this experience will benefit their education and personal growth. We want to see genuine excitement in experiencing a new culture and meeting new people. 

Application Materials                                                                  

  • A short Google form
  • 500 – 700 word essay on “Why you want to study abroad”. In this essay, we want to know why you want to study abroad and what you want to gain from the study abroad experience. The reasons can be anything from personal enjoyment, such as traveling, to career-oriented goals.

Selection Process

We will notify the 3 finalists on January 15th – 30th. The finalists will be asked to provide

  • University ID or other proof of enrollment
  • Proof of enrollment for a Study Abroad Program (Admission forms,  Acceptance Letter, etc)
  • An agreement to fulfill media responsibilities (i.e. being featured on our homepage and social media channels) if selected as a winner.

Finalists have 10 days to submit those materials from the date that we’ve notified. The winner will be announced on January 31st, 2026.

If Selected as Winner:

The winner must agree to be featured on our “Past Winners” Page, with their picture, their name, their institution, and a short bio. Also, they must agree for us to feature them on our social media channels.

FAQs about this Scholarship

1. Are online degree programs eligible?

No, they are not eligible.

2. I am a student from this particular country. Am I eligible?

Yes, students from all citizenships are eligible as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.

3. I would like to receive payments directly. Is this possible?

No, we send payments directly to your home institution. We do not make payments directly to the winner.

4. I will be studying in a non-English medium. Am I still eligible?

Yes, students studying in languages other than English are still eligible.
