The University of Kabianga is one of Kenya’s oldest public education institutions. Its roots can be traced back to 1925, when it was established as the Government School, Kabianga. Later, in 1929, it became the Kabianga Teachers’ Training College. The institution underwent several upgrades and transformations until it was granted university status in 2013 and adopted its present name. Currently, the university operates a main campus located in the Kabianga Division and three other campuses located in Kericho, Kapkatet, and Sotik.
