The University of Ahmed Draia—Adrar, often called the African University, was founded in 1986 in Adrar City. True to its name, this public university is committed to conducting research projects that focus on addressing Africa’s challenges. African studies are well integrated into all humanities curricula to emphasize this commitment. In addition, the university’s Laboratory of African Studies publishes the Journal of Intellectual Dialogue, along with other university publications.
