Shibata Gakuen University was first established in 1923 as Hirosaki Japanese Dressage School for Girls. In 1969, the school became the university it is now known for. The school only has one faculty named the Faculty of Life Creation. This faculty has two departments: the Department of Health and Nutrition and the Department of Child Development. The university is part of a school system with affiliated schools such as the Shibata Gakuen High School and Shibata Kindergarten.
