Nagasaki Wesleyan University was established in 1881 as Cobleigh Seminary, then became a junior college in 1966 as Nagasaki Wesleyan Junior College, and then officially founded as a full college in 2002 with its current name. The university only has one faculty for Contemporary Sociology with three departments inside for Foreign Languages, Economic Policy, and Social Welfare. Teacher Training Courses are also provided for aspiring teachers.
