Its roots go as far back as 1897 – a Congregationalist named minister John C. Collins created a Christian association that would eventually lead to the creation of Montreat College. For more than 100 years, they have provided the youth with Christ-centered education in pursuit of greater intellectual inquiry and deep-seated faith. They have four campuses in North Carolina which are Montreat, Asheville, Charlotte, and Black Mountain. Their recent data shows they have 979 enrollees and it continues to grow in the near future.
