Established in 1990, Gaston Berger University (GBU) is the second university established in Senegal. It is located just outside Saint-Louis. Originally known as the University of Saint-Louis, it was renamed Gaston Berger University, after the popular French-Senegalese philosopher Gaston Berger. GBU is funded by the Senegalese government and is Senegal’s second-largest educational institution.
