Escola Superior de Saude da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa (ESSCVP-Alto Tamega) started as a nursing school that officially admitted students for its first-ever academic year in 1993. Since its inception, it has always aimed to provide health science study programs to generate a pool of competent health workers for its local medical sector. Some of the current programs offered at the university include an undergraduate degree in nursing and a Rehabilitation nursing program at the master’s level.
